Adamson Energia PA Entertains 100,000 At UMF
Korea
Port Perry, Ontario (August 2014) -- This year’s Ultra Music Festival (UMF) Korea took
place in Seoul, South Korea with more than 100,000 EDM fans and music lovers in
attendance. The event, which took place at the Olympic Stadium Sports Complex,
featured heart-thumping beats produced by the world’s top DJs reinforced by Adamson
Energia loudspeakers.
The ground floor of the Olympic arena was converted into the nation’s largest outdoor
club for the two day event. Electronic music was delivered by a number of big-name DJs
including Steve Angelo, Above & Beyond, Steve Aoki and Paul Van Dyk. Empire of the
Sun, Infected Mushroom, Far East Movement and M.I.A. were a few of the bands that
performed live.
Blue Noise and AMG Korea (Alpha Sound), two prominent South Korean sound
companies, provided Adamson sound systems deployed at the Live and Main stages.
Sun Kim, technical support manager for Sound Solutions (Adamson’s Korean distributor)
assisted with system design utilizing Adamson’s Blueprint AV software.
Blue Noise provided support at the Main stage which was used primarily for DJ
performances. The main PA consisted of two left-right arrays made up of sixteen E15
and six E12 line array enclosures. Two arrays of 12 E218 subwoofer enclosures bolstered
the low end. A total of 16 Adamson SpekTrix enclosures – four stacks of two – covered
the fans near the front of the stage.
The Live stage, which hosted bands and DJs, was manned by AMG Korea (Alpha Sound).
In this case the main PA was comprised of two left-right line arrays of 12 E15 enclosures.
Mono stacks of E218 subwoofers (18 total) drove the low end. Once again Adamson
SpekTrix enclosures – eight per side stacked two high – provided front fill.
“I'm used to using d&b and L-Acoustics rigs, so this was new to me,” explains Alice Wilder,
FOH for M.I.A. “However, everything was nicely tuned straight off the bat and there was not
much audible processing, so I was pleased.”
“I thought the PA was quite transparent, not too harsh up top, beautiful mids and nice tight
bottom end,” Wilder continues. “All in all, I would not be opposed to using again, and
I appreciated the power and clarity behind it. “
Both Blue Noise and AMG Korea provided Lab.gruppen PLM 20000Q and PLM 10000Q
amplifiers with Lake processing to drive both systems.
As the most anticipated electronic music festival of the year, Ultra Korea exceeded the
crowd’s expectations with amazing audio quality, video and light shows with low end
that just would not quit.
“We were very pleased with the Adamson systems at the show,” adds Sun Kim. “The
field was transformed into a dance club and the music was exceptional – and Adamson
played a big role in making it happen.”
