1 NSF: Discovery Research K-12 program (DRK-12)
2 NSF: EHR Core Research (ECR)
3 NSF: Advancing Informal STEM Learning
The Discovery Research K-12 program (DRK-12) seeks to significantly
enhance the learning and teaching of science, technology, engineering and
mathematics (STEM) by preK-12 students and teachers, through research
and development of innovative resources, models and tools (RMTs).
Projects in the DRK-12 program build on fundamental research in STEM
education and prior research and development efforts that provide
http://www.nsf.gov/funding/pgm_summ.j theoretical and empirical justification for proposed projects. Teachers and
sp?pims_id=500047&org=NSF&sel_org=N students who participate in DRK-12 studies are expected to enhance their

understanding and use of STEM content, practices and skills.
The EHR Core Research (ECR) program establishes a mechanism in the
Directorate for Education and Human Resources to provide funding in
foundational research areas that are broad, essential and enduring. EHR
seeks proposals that will help synthesize, build and/or expand research
http://www.nsf.gov/funding/pgm_summ.j foundations in the following core areas: STEM learning, STEM learning
sp?pims_id=504924&org=NSF&sel_org=N environments, workforce development, and broadening participation in

STEM.
AISL seeks to advance new approaches to and evidence-based
understanding of the design and development of STEM learning in
informal environments; provide multiple pathways for broadening access
to and engagement in STEM learning experiences; advance innovative
research on and assessment of STEM learning in informal environments;
and develop understandings of deeper learning by participants. AISL
supports six types of projects: (1) Pathways, (2) Research in Service to

NSF: NSF/Intel Partnership on Cyber-Physical Systems Security
4 and Privacy (CPS-Security)
Comments/Notes
The goal of this partnership between NSF and Intel is to foster novel,
transformative, multidisciplinary approaches that ensure the security of
http://www.nsf.gov/funding/pgm_summ.j current and emerging cyber-physical systems, taking into consideration
sp?pims_id=505047&org=NSF&sel_org=N the unique challenges present in this environment relative to other

aspects such as field studies.
6 NSF: Chemical Measurement and Imaging Program
Research focusing on chemically-relevant measurement science and
imaging, targeting both improved understanding of new and existing
methods and development of innovative approaches and instruments.
Research areas include but are not limited to sampling and separation
science; electrochemistry; spectrometry; frequency- and time-domain
spectroscopy; sensors and bioassays; and microscopy. Chemical (as
opposed to morphological) imaging and measurement tools probing
chemical properties and processes across a wide range of spatial scales from macroscopic structures down to single molecules - are supported, as
are innovations enabling the monitoring and imaging of rapid chemical

BBE supports fundamental engineering research that advances the
understanding of cellular and biomolecular processes (in vivo , in vitro ,
and/or ex vivo ) and eventually leads to the development of enabling
technology for advanced manufacturing and/or applications in support of
the biopharmaceutical, biotechnology, and bioenergy industries, or with
applications in health or the environment. A quantitative treatment of

Supports engineering research on innovative, transformative, and
insightful applications that require use of novel nano-scale bio-inspired
engineering principles and approaches. The program emphasizes research
in the area of the monitoring, identification and/or quantification of
biological signals, and is particularly interested in projects at the
intersection of engineering, life sciences, and information technology. The
development of novel principles and approaches will require highly
collaborative interactions between engineers, life scientists and experts in
nanotechnology, biomaterials, bioinformatics, and the chemical and

It is critical to provide sustainable and economical energy systems on a
scale sufficient to power all of society's needs. The development of clean
energy technologies is an important step in that direction as it addresses
the interrelated challenges of producing safe and responsible energy
sources while reducing our dependence on foreign oil and minimizing the
impact on the environment. All of the Divisions in the following

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is intended to provide
rapid support to revolutionary applied energy research (Studies) that may
lead to new ARPA-E programs to develop transformational and disruptive
energy technologies. Studies are defined as single-phase efforts of
durations less than 12 months and cost less than $500,000.
The USFWS uses a science-based, adaptive framework for setting and
achieving cross-program conservation objectives that strategically address
the problems fish and wildlife will face in the future. This framework,
called Strategic Habitat Conservation, is based on the principles of
adaptive management and uses population and habitat data, ecological
models, and focused monitoring and assessment efforts to develop and

There are a variety of reasons to encourage interaction between
mathematicians and educational researchers. National reports
recommend encouraging collaboration between mathematicians and
researchers in education and related fields in order to improve the
education of teachers and students. Communication between
mathematicians and educational researchers is often poor and secondhttps://sites.google.com/site/awmmath/p hand accounts of research in education can be misleading. Particularly
rograms/travel-grants/mathematicsrelevant to the AWM is the fact that high-profile panels of mathematicians
