For the third consecutive year TMB has been recognised as the Bank of the Year in the DRC.
We are proud and honoured to announce that TMB has been named ‘Bank of the Year
2014 in the Democratic Republic of Congo’ at the Bank of the Year Awards ceremony held
27 November in London by The Banker magazine, part of the prestigious Financial Times
family.
This highly-sought after award is given each year to a single bank in each of almost 150
countries around the world. With regards to the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Bank of
the Year prize has been awarded to TMB in 2012, 2013 and once again in 2014.
The Banker highlighted TMB’s commitment to expanding the provision of financial services across communities
traditionally missed by a banking sector largely focused on the largest urban centres. The magazine noted TMB’s
ongoing efforts in developing the banking facilities of the country, in particular with regards to the civil servant
salary payroll project. Furthermore, the jury recognised TMB’s strong balance sheet and profitability, and TMB’s
ability to secure a strong position in a highly competitive market. Brian Caplen, editor of The Banker, added
“Congratulations to Trust Merchant Bank for being our best bank in the DRC. The judges were impressed as to
how the bank has built up its presence across the country and developed highly competitive products resulting
in an impressive increase in profits.”

TMB has cemented its position as the leader in the DRC banking sector, with the Bank securing
several international awards during 2014:

TMB has been recognised for the third consecutive year as the Bank of the Year in the DRC (2012-20132014) by The Banker magazine, part of the Financial Times group.
• TMB has been named as Best Bank 2014 in DRC by the prestigious international magazine Global Finance.
•
TMB was recognised as the Best Bank in Central Africa at the African Banker Awards ceremony, held
during the African Development Bank’s 50th Anniversary Annual Meetings.
• TMB won for the fourth consecutive year (2011-2012-2013-2014) the title Best Bank in DRC as presented by
EMEA Finance magazine. TMB will receive the award on 4 December at the African Banking Awards ceremony.
