Each Local will receive one scholarship for the dependant of a deceased, disabled or active member of their Local. The amount of each scholarship will be determined by the Trustees. Deceased and disabled members will always take precedent over Active members. All deceased, disabled or Active members must be a member in good standing of one of the following Locals: UWUA Local 310 UWUA Local 317 IBEW Local 326 UWUA Local 322 UWUA Local 329 IBEW Local 486 UWUA Local 330 UWUA Local 369 IBEW Local 1465 QUALIFYING CRITERIA for DISABLED or DECEASED MEMBERS WHO WERE EMPLOYED BY NATIONAL GRID 1. The member died while working on the job or was totally and permanently disabled while working on the job on or after May 12, 2003. 2. An Employee who became disabled while working on the job, will be deemed “totally and permanently disabled”, for the purposes of scholarship eligibility, only by providing receipt of a Social Security determination that the employee is totally and permanently disabled. 3. In order to receive the scholarship money, a student must not have reached his/her 23 rd birthday as of the beginning of the School year which they seek the Scholarship unless having served Military duty. Anyone serving in the military will have 12 months from the date of discharge to apply. QUALIFYING CRITERIA for ACTIVE MEMBERS EMPLOYED BY NATIONAL GRID In order to receive the scholarship money, a student must not have reached his/her 23 rd birthday as of the beginning of the school year for which they seek the scholarship, unless having served Military duty. Anyone serving in the military will have 12 months from the date of discharge to apply.
