BRDC EA 2014 Communications
Meeting One - 29 May 2014
Woolworths, the SDA, NUW and Employee Bargaining Representatives (EBR) met at 9.30am to commence
bargaining for the next BRDC Enterprise Agreement (EA).
To ensure productive negotiations, the Company set out guidelines as well as the requirements under the
Fair Work Act including the role of a bargaining representative and ‘good faith bargaining’.
Ian Thatcher, HR Manager, explained the Company’s current performance, results and Woolworths’
contribution to the greater community through wages, tax, shareholders, construction and jobs.
Tramain Cassar, Acting Logistics Manager, explained the current statistics, labour and warehouse costs of
the BRDC.
The SDA, EBR and Woolworths exchanged and explained their Log of Claims. NUW confirmed their Log of
Claims will be ready to present next week.
All parties were provided time to read the other party’s Log of Claims and provide initial feedback ahead of
further meetings.

The NUW requested, and the Company has approved the release of 18 delegates for training and
surveying purposes this Friday and Saturday. The NUW have also requested the Company consider paid
meetings with their members for week commencing 2 June 2014. The Company agreed to provide a
response as soon as possible.
All parties agreed on communications and the meeting closed at 6.12pm.
