DekorBond Method Sheet
Description:
Dekorgrip Resin is a coloured, two-part resin surface dressing available in Polyurethane and Epoxy
designed to bind natural aggregates. The finish achieved provides an attractive, safe, hard wearing and
low maintenance surface.
Surface Preparation:
All bituminous surfaces to be treated with Dekorgrip Resin should be sealed with DekorCryl (refer to
product information sheet) to prevent the resin from soaking in to the capillary pores.
Newly laid installed bituminous surfaces should have a max PEN value of 125, SMA is recommended
(avoid DBM), and should be installed and compacted to current British Standard specifications, then
left for minimum of 4 weeks (28 days) to allow for bituminous oils to evaporate. Examples of
various suggested build ups are available on request.
Existing bituminous surfaces must be of sound construction; any weakness could result in a bond
failure or blistering. We strongly recommend that the client should take, or instruct, that core
samples are taken to confirm base suitability.
Concrete and Timber surfaces should be primed using EP DEKORGRIP PRIMER or PU DEKORSEAL (refer
to product information sheets).
Steel surfaces should be degreased and lightly shot blasted or suitably abraded prior to application of
EP DEKORSOL SHIELDCOAT PRIMER (refer to product information sheets.)
Surfaces to Be Treated Must Be Dry
Do Not Apply In Wet Conditions

Mixing/Application:
The contents of container labelled Part ‘B’ (Hardener) should be added to container labelled Part ‘A’
(Resin) and thoroughly mixed together using a suitable heavy duty electric paddle mixer or similar.
Pouring mixed material back into the original containers for further mixing will ensure thorough mixing
and allow any residue in the containers to cure aiding disposal.
Coverage:
The minimum coverage rate for DEKORGRIP RESIN is dependent on the chosen aggregate size:
Aggregate
0.5 – 1.5mm
1.0 – 3.0mm
2.0 – 4.0mm
2.0 – 5.0mm
6.0 – 10.0mm
Resin Coverage
1.0 – 1.2kg per sqm
1.5 – 1.7kg per sqm
1.9 – 2.1kg per sqm
2.0 – 2.4kg per sqm
2.8 – 3.5kg per sqm
Quantity of aggregate required to ensure complete blanket coverage:
Aggregate
0.5 – 1.5mm
1.0 – 3.0mm
2.0 – 4.0mm
2.0 – 5.0mm
6.0 – 10.0mm
Aggregate Coverage
4.0 – 5.0kg per sqm
6.0 – 8.0kg per sqm
10.0 – 12.0kg per sqm
12.0 – 14.0kg per sqm
18.0 – 20.0kg per sqm
Pot Life/Curing Time:
The pot life of unmixed DEKORGRIP RESIN stored above 5˚C in a cool dry atmosphere free from
frost is 12 months.
Pot life of a full unit of mixed material at 20˚C is 15 minutes.
The cure time for applied DEKORGRIP RESIN is 5-6 hours at 18˚C.
Temperature of Application:
Recommended temperature of application should be between 5˚C and 30˚C.
The working time of the resin will rapidly reduce if the surface temperature is above 30˚C.
Dekorgrip Resin bonded surfaces must be thoroughly swept/vacuumed on completion. Further
sweeping/vacuuming will also be required until the initial shedding of aggregate has been
exhausted.
Contractors will generally carry out the first main sweep/vacuum only.
Note:
i)
The colour and textures of natural aggregates may vary from batch to batch.
