Erste Card Club wins two awards for good performance
Zagreb, June 10, 2014 – Diners Club International has awarded the Best Corporate
Performance award to Erste Card Club as the franchise that recorded the highest growth in
2013 with regard to issued business cards, Travel Account turnover and total recorded turnover
in the business users segment. In addition, Erste Card Club's Slovenian subsidiary Erste Card
was awarded the Best Small Franchise award for results achieved in issuing cards and total
card turnover.
This year's Best Corporate Performance award is awarded for performance in 2013 compared
to 2012. Thus Erste Card issued 7 percent more business cards compared to the previous year,
while total business card turnover grew also by 7 percent. The company also recorded a
significantly higher Travel Account turnover, the business users account used for paying all
business travel services, which rose by 31 percent. Incidentally, this is the fourth time that Erste
Card Club has won the Best Corporate Performance award. The company was also the first
ever winner of the award in 2008. Overall, during 45 years Diners Club Int. has awarded a total
of 14 awards to its Croatian franchise. Alongside winning the Best Corporate Performance
award, the company was pronounced the best franchise in the EMEA region on three occasions
and on five occasions it won the award for developing new card products.
Erste Card's operations in Slovenia
Erste Card has been operating on the Slovenian market since August last year when, in
agreement with Diners Club International, the company became the new owner of the franchise
and began re-establishing Diners Club's operations on this market. In September last year it
began issuing new Diners cards; at the same time, the company started creating a network of
point-of-sale locations in Slovenia where the cards would be accepted. By the end of December,
in only four months, Erste Card had issued over 45,000 cards that recorded a EUR 23m
turnover in the same period. In addition, the acceptance network was successfully reestablished, thus Diners cards are currently accepted at 14,000 point-of-sale locations in
Slovenia.
Apart from being the holder of the franchise rights for Slovenia, Erste Card Club is also the
holder of the franchise rights for the market of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which was proclaimed
to be the best small franchise in 2012.
"Although Diners operates globally, it needs strong local partnerships to operate. Croatia is an
example of a long-term successful cooperation and this year again it is an irrefutable winner in
its category, with the highest recorded growth in every category," pointed out President of
Diners Club International Eduardo Tobon when presenting the awards.
