New Jersey Junior Titans
Mission Statement
The objective of the Junior Titans hockey program is
to develop and promote aspiring hockey players to
attain their short term and long term goals both on
the ice and in the classroom.
It is the focus of the Junior Titans program to
prepare our players for the realities they will face
when competing at the higher levels of hockey
whether it be in Junior, College, or professional
hockey. Also, we will prepare them for the
educational requirements and opportunities that
are associated with the next level of ice hockey.
We pride ourselves on development and consistency.
Hockey is a vehicle players should use to help
create opportunities on and off the ice. We believe
that our hockey lessons are life lessons, and the
tools we give our athletes to succeed will assist
them in all of their future endeavors.
The League
The Eastern Hockey League is
comprised of 18 top-level
organizations dedicated to the goal
of college advancement. EHL teams
are fully committed to the USA
Hockey Junior Model and all EHL organizations
have a rich history of producing tomorrow’s
NCAA and NHL stars. The EHL operating
standards mirror USA Hockey Tier II standards
and guarantee that each player is given the best
opportunity to receive maximum exposure to NCAA
and NHL scouts. The 18 EHL organizations
combined for more than 140 NCAA commitments
during the 2012-2013 season and have a proven
track record of preparing young hockey players
for college hockey and beyond. Alumni include
NHLers such as Kris Kreider, John Carlson, Rob
Scuderi and Jarred Tinordi.

New Jersey Junior Titans
College Placement is Primary Goal
Making our players academically attractive to as many colleges as possible is a
critical component of our program. Every player’s educational plan is
individually developed with our educational coordinator. We expect our Junior
players to follow a progressive plan that matches their hockey potential and
their academic potential. If you are not serious about preparing for your career
after hockey, perhaps you have come to the wrong club. We work with you to help
you maintain your NCAA eligibility and options. Your individual objectives are
important. Having placed hundreds of players over the past 15 years into
college, we know that there is a school for every player and a player for every
school. We have relationships
with the coaching staffs, an
alumni network to expose you to
the schools where you best fit
athletically and academically.
“George, I wanted to give you a heads up
that I committed to Yale last night for the
2014 season. Obviously I’m very excited and
wanted to thank you for everything that you
have done for me to help make this happen.
All my years with the Titans definitely made it
possible for this to happen. Thanks again for
all your help and encouragement. I hope to see you up at the rink soon" Dan O’Keefe Yale 2018
Titan Alumni Network
An active Alumni Network is invaluable to the club. Because many of our alumni
have had very good outcomes, they are happy to maintain a relationship with the
organization. Our youngest alumni return from college at breaks to share their
experiences and some coach youth teams or play in our high level JHL Summer
Pro-Am league. Older alums who have settled in the area are happy to help with
job and internship opportunities. We have alumni who are hockey directors,
recruit and coach at the college level and NHL coach Mike Haviland who
coached for our program before moving on to become a Trenton Titans Hall of
Fame coach in the ECHL, AHL coach of the year, and Stanley Cup with the
Blackhawks in 2010. Mike can open doors and provide a very real perspective for
those looking for professional opportunities.

Life as a titan
Billeting
All New Jersey Junior Titan Players are placed with
host families during their time in Middletown. Players
move in with these families prior to Training Camp and
live with the family until the end of the season. The host
families are interviewed and approved by Junior Titans Management and are also
subject to a background check by the appropriate local Police Department. Host
Families are paid directly by the Junior Titans Hockey Club and are responsible
for caring for players and providing them with meals, laundry and a comfortable
home environment. The parents of the Junior Titan player are advised of Host
Families that are available during the summer prior to arriving at Training Camp.
Interviews are arranged by Owner/General Manager/Coach George Haviland
who coordinates the placement of all players with host
families.
Accommodations
Single or double bed per player with a good mattress.
Dresser & closet space.

Titans in the Community
Titans Mentor Program
Every Junior Titan player is assigned one
player from the Titan youth program to
look after, help with hockey or non-hockey
related issues, attend games, essentially be
a big brother. The Titan mentor program
creates a greater sense of family for the
club and allows our younger players to
have role models from within our own
organization.
Community Service
Former Titan player Jack Walchessen and
Captain of his OHL Peterboro Petes team exemplifies our attitude toward
community. Not every junior player can make the same impact as Jack, but we ask
them to try to be like Jack. Remember, we are growing young men, and we expect
them to commit to community service.
“It was an honor to be selected to accept the Dan Snyder Memorial Trophy as the OHL’s Humanitarian of the Year,”
said Walchessen. “Junior hockey is a lot about growing as a person and learning to conduct yourself as a
professional." Jack Walchessen Peterboro Petes’06-‘11
