Midget AA - Toronto Leaside Girls Hockey Association

TLGHA - Midget AA - 2014 / 2015
The focus of the MAA team will be on player development.
It is the objective of the coaching staff to graduate as many players as possible to
our Int. AA at the end of the season.
This goal will be achieved by emphasizing individual skills training and developing
each players knowledge and understanding of the game through team strategies.
Coaches love skilled players however it’s those special few that combine those
skills with “hockey smarts” that are the most sought after.
The coaching staff will consist of:
John Hebert ( head coach ) I have been a volunteer with TLGHA for 10 years. The
last 4 years as a member of the executive committee as Director of Player
Development. My last 3 years of active coaching was at the MAA level. I had the
honour of coaching at the last two Ontario Winter Games. I have my Level 1 & 2
coaching certificate.
Ian Fitz-Gerald ( defensive coach ) Ian has spent the last 4 years coaching at the
Midget and Bantam level here at TLGHA and 8 years prior to that at the AA level
within the GTHL. Ian played Jr and university hockey ( as well as varsity football at
McGill ) and continues to play for fitness and fun.
Nicole Hebert ( forward coach & trainer ) Nicole grew up playing with TLGHA and
advanced to playing with U. of Waterloo in the OUA. She possesses her Level 1
coaching certificate and her trainer’s certification. Nicole has worked with
TLGHA’s Learn-to-play program for 2 seasons and has worked for the City of
Toronto as a swimming instructor for 4 years. Nicole has also represented Ontario
in numerous provincials, national and inter-national competitions in ball hockey.
The team will include nutritional information and mental preparation techniques
as part of the program.
The budget will include at least 4 tournaments with one being a team bonding
away tournament. The team has requested two 90 minute practices per week.
Spring training and skills sessions will be offered along with a pre-season training
camp.
Players on this team will be provided with the opportunity to practice and play
with TLGHA’s Int. AA team throughout the course of the season.
The atmosphere on the bench, in the dressing room and in practices will be
positive and encouraging. The players on this team will be pushed to achieve the
highest levels of performance that they are capable of.
Discipline, work ethic, respect and a positive attitude are expectations for the
team as a whole.
The goal of this team will be to win LLFHL and gold at Provincials.
“The greater danger for most of us lies in not setting our goal too high and falling
short, but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark”.
