10 being the best in helping develop knowledge of key messages - 0 being the opposite
The package – what worked?
Gave me ideas how my team can share key
messages with the families we work with
Encouraged group discussion & interactive
activities – loved the lollipop ‘test’!
Key child development information - Clear,
concise messages
Short snappy messages & realistic scenarios
to relate to
The package – what worked?
Explained how everyday things can help
parents help their children develop
Breakdown to 3 messages helped me to
remember them
Explained the positive outcomes from
talking, playing & exploring
It was a fun training session which was well
delivered
Measures – package evaluation
If the next session
could be even better,
closer to a 10….what would
be different, what would
be better?
10 being the best in helping develop knowledge of key messages - 0 being the opposite
What could be better?
More positive way of talking about
development milestones - it is not due to
bad parenting that children don’t reach
their milestones
Take the mental wellbeing & circumstances
of the parent into consideration more
Slightly more in-depth information
What could be better?
Maybe add more interactive
things or split them up through it.
eg. things like role play
Perhaps leave participants to
discuss scenarios on their own
without speaker
Even more examples of practice

Challenges
BUILDING the team to develop &
deliver the package
REACHING AND ENGAGING the RIGHT audience &
pitching the package at the RIGHT level
ADAPTING the package – difficult to make ALL
changes suggested by ALL participants + time
needed to make changes
Challenges
USING the protected time efficiently as
demand for AHP service is very high
BALANCING commitments with a strong desire to
develop and spread early intervention approaches
is challenging for services
Bright Spots
DEVELOPING the package itself
DELIVERING to the RIGHT audience first time
FELT GOOD!
MAKING new connections with others
LEARNING about what others are doing
Bright Spots
HEARING others speak positively
about the package
LEARNING about the Lochee ward
SEEING that it’s WORKING through
increasing demand for the package
Collaboration – what’s working?
LEARNING from other professionals
LISTENING to others helped us shape the package
GAINING INSIGHT into other professionals,
and understanding their approach
Collaboration – what’s working?
IMPROVING our UNDERSTANDING of
the challenges faced by children & families
ACKOWLEDGING that everyone has different levels
of knowledge and experience
LEARNING about engagement – there are
many ways to engage people
We would like help with?
If anyone else is doing
something similar we would love
to hear from you
please get in touch!
Next Steps?..testing..impact..
staff changing their practice & creating
new opportunities for families
families improving their knowledge of the key messages
and changing their interactions with their children
families noticing positive changes in their
children’s development
(she’s talking more, asking me to read stories more)
How will we know that change will result
in improvement?
A multi-agency workforce will
be skilled and confident in sharing the
key messages with families
Families will be confident in sharing the key messages
with their children - more talking, playing & exploring
Children will be learning & developing well
