The Faculty of Community Services offers distinctive supports and programming through its
Student Learning Support team. Specific learning supports include:
INDIVIDUAL APPOINTMENTS WITH A LEARNING STRATEGIST
Face-to-Face
Online
FCS learning strategists are available, by
appointment, to work with students on issues
related to academic skills development, study
skills, and English language support.
Individual appointments can also be scheduled by
students to work with learning strategists via
Skype, Adobe Connect, or over the telephone.

roster of topics related to
transition and the development
of academic skills.
Academic skills workshops are
customized and facilitated by
the FCS learning strategists to
address the needs of students in
specific courses.

made available to provide
additional strategy support to
students.

The FCS learning strategists are available to
facilitate staff and student-organized academic
skills development sessions.
The FCS student learning support team is
available, by request, to discuss learning supports
with faculty, staff, and students.
CONSULTATION WITH FACULTY AND STAFF
The FCS learning strategists are available for consultation with faculty, instructors and staff to embed
learning strategies into course curriculum.

Writing Circles
Peer-2-Peer Support
Learning Circles, held twice
weekly, are one-hour drop-in
workshops in which students
learn and practice academic skills
related to a specific topic.
Writing Circles, held twice
weekly, are one-hour drop-in
workshops during which
students can receive individual
writing support and work
collaboratively on writingrelated tasks and challenges.
Peer-2-Peer Support gives
students the opportunity to
focus on a specific academic
challenge working with a peer
learning assistant.
