Issue 10
Inside...
Welcome to Issue 10 of our
newsletter - we are
pleased to announce
details of our Easter
Holiday activities, and give
you news and updates of
everything that has
happened in with us since
last October.
Included in the newsletter
is an introduction to our
new youth worker and
hospitality team, an update
on our afterschool clubs,
photos from recent events
and an overview of what
we’ve been up to.
We would like to wish a
very warm welcome to
Donna Breen, the latest
addition to our staff
team within the Youth
Cafe. Donna will be covering Jillian’s youth
work maternity leave
until at least January.
Donna has many years of
Youth Work experience in
many different fields, and
will be a huge asset to the
Cafe and the staff team.
Donna believes in healthy
lifestyles, and to this end
brings this personal
interest with her to deliver
both healthy eating and
fitness after school
programmes for our
young people. These
programmes have already
started with good
numbers attending, and
Donna has said: “I guess
it’s not surprising that as
a health promoting Youth
worker that I have had to

Social Enterprise Update
We’ve had a busy start to the year
with lots of different groups using
the Youth Cafe and the Inkwell for
venue hire and catering – with
groups such as Diabetes UK, Moray
Business Womens’ Network and
Moray Rotaract to name but a few!
We’re glad to see the building
being used by so many different
groups in the community, and of
course any profits made are directly
reinvested back into the charity.
We were thrilled to be awarded with
the Keystone Award at the
beginning of the year, an SCVO
award which recognises best
practice in village hall and
community venue management.
Hospitality
We are pleased to announce that we
have just recruited a new hospitality
team, again on four month
contracts. These four young people
aged 16-18 will be trained to work in
both the bar and kitchen areas of the
cafe. For some of these young
people it will be their first experience
of work. They will have the
opportunity to learn new skills and
gain qualifications whilst in post that
should hold them in good stead as
they progress towards leaving
school and entering the big bad
world of work. Welcome aboard to
Gemma, Chloe, Tori & Kezia, our
new hospitality team.
The head of Moray Council came to
the youth cafe to present the award.
Finally, we’ve also launched
“Inkwell Connect” – a free online
hub which will allow members of
the community to find people in
Moray with similar interests and
meet up.
If you’re over 16 and have a
hobby and want to find like
minded individuals then visit
http://www.inkwellmoray.co.uk/

Inkwell Connect Facebook page

Afterschool Clubs
Donna
A big part of my inspiration is to
build on the excellent work and
momentum that Jillian had built up
with the two afterschool clubs:
healthy cooking/eating and activity/
fitness club and these have both got
off to a good start!

Easter holiday program
Easter Holiday Programme
The Easter holiday programme has been finalised (above) and we are proud to say
that with the exception of one day, every day has at least one activity running for
young people. With limited spaces on most of the activities, young people should
sign up for the activities as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
Evening Activity Programme (Post Easter Holidays –
Summer Holidays)
The youth team are currently putting together our evening activity programme that
will run from after the Easter holidays right through to the beginning of the Summer
holidays. We’ll take what has worked from previous evening programmes and add
some exciting new things to it. The programme will be finalised and ready for
distribution by the end of March, so keep an eye out.

Are you a young person that wants to get involved in your local community?
The Youth Cafe is also seeking local community projects for the young people to get involved
with. These projects could be a one off project or ongoing projects that require volunteers on a
regular basis. They could be gardening projects, renovation projects or they could be a charity
that simply wants an extra pair of hands for sessions they run.
