DATA SHEET
EXLZINC 113
DESCRIPTION
PRINCIPAL CHARACTERISTICS
.
COLOURS AND GLOSS
A two component solvent based inorganic zinc rich ethyl
silicate primer containing 85 % zinc by weight in the dry
film. Complies with the composition and performance
requirements of SSPC Paint 20 Type 1 Level 1
-
An excellent primer for use on blasted sheet to white
metal for better corrosion resistance.
-
Can be used in both maintenance and new construction
of bridges, tanks, pipe work, offshore and structural
steel work.
-
Excellent corrosion resistance for correctly prepared
steel substrates up to temperature of 540 0 C when
suitably top coated.
-
Widely used in chemical plants, paper mills, refineries
and salt atmospheres.

Steel blast cleaned to SSPC SP 10 or
Sa 2 ½ (ISO 8501 – 1 : 1998 )

Substrate temperature should be at least 3°C
above dew point and minimum relative
humidity should be 50%.
Mixing Ratio by volume : base to hardener 4.26 : 1
-
POT LIFE

The binder is supplied in jerry can and pigment is
supplied in plastic bag.
In order to ensure proper mixing of both the
components follow the instructions given below:
1. Shake the binder in jerry can thoroughly to
ensure complete homogeneous liquid
2. Pour the mixed binder into a clean drum
3. Add zinc dust gradually to the
homogeneous binder under continuous
stirring using mechanical stirrer
4. Stir the zinc dust thoroughly through the
binder at high speed and keep stirring till a
homogeneous mixture is obtained
5. Strain mixture through 30 – 60 mesh screen
6. Agitate mixture continuously at low speed
during application.
7. To avoid lumps in the paint do not add the
binder to the zinc powder.
The temperature of the mixed base and hardener
should preferably be above 15°C, otherwise extra
solvent may be required to obtain application
viscosity
Too much solvent results in reduced sag resistance
and slower cure
Thinner should be added after mixing the
components
