Visual Arts teachers in the Far Western region are invited to
participate in two professional development opportunities on
Thursday 28th August 2014.
VADEA Inspire Far Western Region a professional development
day for visual arts teachers will be held at Dubbo School of
Distance Education (9am -3pm) and VADEA Indulge Far
Western Region presentation Exhibition Insights: ExperimentaSpeak to Me and Remain in Light-Photography from the MCA
Collections with WPCC curator Kent Buchanan at the Western
Plains Cultural Centre, Dubbo (5pm-7pm).

VADEA Inspire Far Western Region is a professional
development day for visual arts teachers to be held on Thursday
28 August 2014. An opportunity to exchange ideas and teaching
and learning strategies with visual arts teaching colleagues.
Brian Shand and Dubbo Distance Education will host the
third of a series of VADEA Regional Inspire professional
development days for Visual Arts teachers in regional areas to
share resources, new ideas, programs and learning strategies
for teaching Visual Arts, Visual Design and Photographic and
Digital Media.
The focus of Regional Inspire is Stage 4 to Stage 6.The
program format will include a series of short presentations from
visual arts educators including Brian Shand (Visual Arts Teacher
(Coonabarabran High School),Kent Buchanan(Curator Western
Plains Cultural Centre), Tamara Lawry (Visual Arts Teacher,
Dubbo College Senior Campus), Tanya Priestley and Teneille
Bloomfield (Visual Arts Teachers, Dubbo School of Distance
Education), Jillian Norton (Co-Management Co-ordinator,
Gawambaraay Pilliga Co-Management Committee),VADEA
executive members Wendy Ramsay (Regional Support Officer
and Visual Arts Lecturer, UTS ) and Sueanne Matthews
(Executive member and Head Teacher Administration, Karabar
High School and Distance Education Centre)
Presentations will address the dissemination of knowledge,
understanding and skills in the making and the critical and
historical study of visual arts informed by practice, the
conceptual framework and the frames.
Each participant is requested to bring a unit of work, program
overview or resources to share with colleagues. We invite
participants to focus on innovative ways they address the
content areas of practice, conceptual framework and the
frames.

VADEA Indulge Far Western Region
An exciting professional development event to be held at the
Western Plains Cultural Centre, 76 Wingewarra Street, Dubbo
from 5pm to 7pm on Thursday 28 August 2014.
VADEA Indulge is a free VADEA event aimed at bringing
VADEA members together to ‘indulge’ in an informal evening
of art, listen to specialist speakers and make new professional
contacts in a collegial atmosphere.
VADEA in conjunction with the Western Plains Cultural Centre,
Dubbo will present Exhibition Insights: Experimenta - Speak to
Me and Remain in Light - Photography from the MCA Collection
with WPCC curator Kent Buchanan from 5pm-7pm.
