In terms of note below Para 651,.1ndianRailway Medical Manual (Vol. I, 3rdEditio~
2000, General Managers have been. empowered to sanction advance payment upto the
reimbursement part of' the anticipated cost of the treatment or upto. RS.1,OO,OOO/.,
whicheveris less, on recommendationsof the CMDand the cor-currence of FA&CAO
. . ~owardsthe treatment of railway beneficiary in Government HospitallRecognised
Hospital where they are officiallyreferred to by the Authorised Medical Officer.
2. Ministryof Railways after careful consideration of the issue, in partial modificationto
their earlier orders, have decided that the powers of General Managers to sanction
advance payment be enhanced to Rs. 6,00,000/. in case of referral to Govemment
Hospital only.
3. There shall be no change in the powers of General Manager relatingto sanction~
advance payment in case of referralto recognizedhospital.
4. Allother conditionsshall remainthe same.
5. General Managers may in consultation with their FA&CAO redelagate from within
their powers to DivisionalRailway Managers of the Divisions under their control.
6. The above has the sanction of the President and this issues with the concurrence of
Finance Directorate of Ministryof Railways
