Press release 29th September 2014 RWE GBS Polska celebrates its first anniversary, announcing further employment plans for 100 new positions On 1 October 2014, RWE GBS Polska, the RWE Group’s Shared Service Centre (SSC) located in Cracow is going to celebrate the first anniversary of its activity. On this occasion, the company has presented its current achievements, as well as development plans for the next year, assuming enlarging the workforce. The Cracow-based SSC forms an integral part of the RWE Group, one of the five largest energy companies in Europe. RWE GBS Polska is one of several companies belonging to the RWE Group in Poland. Other Group companies present on the domestic market include RWE Polska, which supplies 950 000 Customers with electricity and gas, RWE Stoen Operator, which operates as the Distribution System Operator in Warsaw, and RWE Renewables, managing RWE’s wind farms in Poland, whose total capacity amounts to 197 megawatts. Dynamic growth in the first year of operation The Accounting and Financial SSC of RWE in Cracow provides services in the fields of accounting, finance and HR administration for the companies belonging to the RWE Group. Since its establishment, in September 2013, until now, the company has employed over 150 person. The first year of operation was also marked by developing all the SSC’s operating procedures and by training the recruited candidates. So far, RWE GBS Polska has taken over accounting and finance-related services of 6 companies belonging to the RWE Group, and selected services in the area of HR administration of 19 companies. “This year has been the best confirmation that the decision to locate our SSC in Cracow was right. We particularly appreciate the potential of employees with proper education and good knowledge of foreign languages – and they are available on the Cracow job market. One of the reasons for placing the SSC in Cracow was precisely the access to a large pool of graduates of prestigious universities,” adds Konrad Konczewski, Head of RWE GBS Polska. Young personnel, training system and professional development As many as 69% of employees of RWE GSB Polska are young people, aged between 24 and 30. Thus, they are at the initial stage of shaping their career paths. The main advantage of this group is their command of foreign languages: German and English – prerequisite to be an employee at the SSC, as well as higher education. 95% of employees are graduates of universities, whereas the remaining 5% are students. Studies conducted by HR experts from MAN Accounting Centre have shown that people in this age group – the representatives of the generation Y – especially value the opportunity of professional development at their workplace: this is declared by as many as 78% of respondents. “RWE GBS SSC offers a particularly attractive system of training for all new employees. The programme includes opportunities of visits to other countries, allowing the employees not only for greater development, but also to verify their capacities in a new working environment. With such a career path they can gain experience in international business” says Konrad Konczewski, Head of RWE GBS Polska. Enlarging employment after one year The Center’s pace of development not only met but, in fact, exceeded the expectations of RWE Group’s management. For this reason, RWE GBS Polska is initiating another recruitment programme, aimed at enlarging the current staff. The recruitment campaign will take place in the Małopolskie, Slaskie, Podkarpackie and Swietokrzyskie voivodeships and is starting in October. Target candidates have fluent command of German and English. Given a specialized training programme is run for the period of 2 up to 4 weeks, expertise in accounting and finance is not a necessary condition so as to apply for jobs in the SSC. The main selection criterion is an advanced knowledge of the languages mentioned. Increased employment is confirmed by Konrad Konczewski, Head of RWE GBS Polska: “The SSC’s development plans assume a dynamic growth of employment in the teams dedicated to accounting. RWE GBS is a perfect workplace for ambitious graduates with fluent German or English, interested in finance and accounting.” Over the next two years, RWE GBS Polska is going to take over the accounting and finance-related service of yet other 10 companies belonging to the RWE Group, and by the end of this year it will be rendering selected HR administration services to all the Group’s companies. At the beginning of next year, the SSC is going to be relocated to its new headquarters that can potentially accommodate 400 employees.
