STANISLAUS COUNTY BICYCLE CLUB PACELINES FEBRUARY GENERAL MEETING Wednesday February 12, 2014, 6:00 pm PMZ Real Estate 1600 Carpenter Rd Across from Home Depot Guest Speaker: Gordon Sweeny Food to be served VOLUME 40,ISSUE 13 February President’s Message The new year brings many things for SCBC to do. Please sign-up to help in one or two events. First, and most importantly, we need members on our FRUIT YARD CENTURY PLANNING COMMITTEE. This committee meets once a month from Jan. - Oct. and helps to organize all the things that make the FYC a success. WE REALLY NEED NEW PEOPLE AND IDEAS for the FYC to continue. The Board Members are willing to help but we can't do it alone! Bring your fantastic ideas and willingness to work in a group. Secondly, sign-up to help at one more event through-out the year. We help and support many area rides, have an information booth at many events and support other area causes. I enjoy sharing my love for riding and my concern for rider safety at these events. I hope you can join me, too. We will have a year-at-a-glance sign-up sheet on-line and at meetings. One of the first events we help with is the Modesto Marathon. We ride through the riders and provide assistance when needed. Its a great way to ride and be an ambassador for SCBC. I need 6 people who will be able to do this - Sunday, Mar. 23. Thirdly, we need people who are willing to be ride leaders for our weekend rides. We are hoping to be a better support for riders by having someone from SCBC promise to be there. We will be having a 'training' night for anyone who might be interested in this new role. From our Survey Monkey results, we can tell this is an area in which we need to improve. More information to come. Welcome our Newest Members Bill Beatie Steve Bell Troy Bergman Gerald Dixon Robert Dye John Frailing Stuart James Eric Larsen David Linn Mark Rossi Julie Shipman Jill Norman Remember when you see new members on rides, welcome them, help them to get involved; we were all new to the club once!!!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thanks to 340 registered riders, more than 40 volunteers and 25 financial and in kind sponsors, the 2013 Pedaling Paths to Independence raised a record $16,000.00 to sustain vital services to people whose vision impairments impede their ability to perform tasks of daily living. We--the clients, staff and board of directors--are grateful. Yes, it takes a village. Once again, we’ve requested dry ground. We’ll do our best to keep the wind at bay, or at least ask that a tailwind blows in every direction. Thanks for your support. Questions? Call Joni at (209) 298-1372 or send an e-mail to [email protected] . You'll receive an auto reply, but rest assured a real person (me) will receive the message and respond within a few days. Thanks, again. Be safe, keep the wind at your back, and keep the rubber side on the ground. Joni Racing season is fast approaching….watch them live locally….
