Issue 2 | August 2014
Dear Owner
Time is flying by, already eight months into the year. Life at Benguela Cove continues to be fabulous and so
much seems to have happened in such as short time, we thought it would be a good time to update everyone
on new developments. In the last few days, we have had Top Billing filming on the estate. The Top Billing
cameraman used a drone to film and said that this was one of the most spectacular locations he had ever used
the drone in, we look forward to seeing the footage, which airs on SABC 3 on Thursday 28th August.
Benguela Cove is under construction
The bulldozers and diggers are busy at the Cove, with four houses being built currently, the estate is a hive of
activity. It is great watching these properties begin to emerge from the ground and to see our landscape slowly
changing. We look forward to welcoming these families to Benguela Cove.
Construction has also commenced on the Swimming Pool, Tennis Court, the gate house and Agricultural
village. The builders have a strict brief to ensure that the pool and tennis court are ready by Christmas, the last
thing we want is to blight the clubhouse over the summer months, so time is of the essence to get this
completed.
The trustees are currently looking at adding a security control room to the estate as well as the further boat
houses, all I am sure will be signed off shortly. The outline plan is now in place for the Commercial Precinct and
the move to more detailed drawings has begun…watch this space.
Trees
The Populus trees have been purchased as well as brand new JCB digger. The farm will soon be a whirl of
machinery as the planting of our tree lined avenues commence.
Hermanus Fyn Arts
The Fyn Arts held in June 2014 was a huge success and everyone truly enjoyed the two events that were held
at Benguela Manor. We have promised the Fyn Arts that they will have the continued support of Benguela
Cove and we look forward to more arts on the lagoon in 2015.
Property Prices
Plot values have more than doubled now on the estate and we believe given all the activity that we have
outlined, there will be substantial further increases and demand for plots and property within Benguela Cove.
This is good news for everyone.
New Dam
Rodney and Jaco, have put a huge amount of energy into our new dam on the estate. We have had so much
rain that the dam is full and as the ground around it rehabilitates we know that this area will be an absolute
haven for wildlife.
Lavender
The lavender is half way through being re-planted and Jaco the Farm Manager has reported to us that buds are
already breaking through. We cannot wait to have a carpet of fragrant lavender.
Water main meter - has moved
The water mains for Benguela Cove which used to be situated in Fisherhaven have now been moved to Benguela Cove. When we took over the estate
we discovered that our water meters were in Fisherhaven, which meant that if there were leaks, they could be anywhere along a pipeline to which BC
did not have access to. Thankfully following negotiation with Overstand Municipality they agreed to move this to Benguela Cove.
Benguela On Main Somerset West
Yes, as you drive from the airport through Somerset West, you will soon be able to stop and have a bite to eat and enjoy Benguela Cove
wines before you go over the mountain. The new Benguela restaurant is undergoing major alterations and we hope to have a grand
opening in November 2014. Everyone from Benguela Cove is of course automatically on the VIP list and we are confident that the
restuarant will help considerably to put Benguela Cove on the map.
