2014 NATIONAL EDUCATION SECTOR ANNUAL REVIEW
(NESAR) RECOMMENDATIONS
1. This 10TH edition of the annual Sector Performance Review held from 7th-11th July 2014, attended by all
relevant stake holders at the national, regional and district level from GoG MDAs, CSOs, NGOS and
the development partners agreed on following key recommendations for evaluation at the next session.
2. The session was under the them : “efficiency: key to sustainable quality education beyond 2015”
3. Reflecting on the theme: the Government, International Development Partners and Civil Society after
series of discussions based on a number of presentations from preschool to tertiary level including nonformal, and technical vocational education, proposed objective recommendations with a focus on the
goals and objectives set forth in the Education Strategic Plan and the draft Sector performance report
4. At the end of the session, participants produced concrete and sound recommendations to propel the
sector forward in a bid to address key challenges that confront the system.
5. This document (2014 NESAR recommendations) contains crystallized recommendations teased from
the outcomes of technical group discussions on the following themes: Basic Education, Second Cycle
Education, Tertiary Education, functional literacy and skills training and education
Finance/Management.
6. The full thematic group outcomes have also been attached to this as an Appendix.
