Bioprocess Engineer
Project manage a multi-year, federally-funded $4M project with three partner subawardees. Maintain project budget, schedule, and reporting to the sponsor agency.
Coordinate grant applications (including setting project scope, budget, and timeline)
submitted to funding bodies such as the Department of Energy and European Commission.
Managed of a team of four during commissioning of company’s first-in-kind gas to ethanol
fermentation demo plant (100,000 gpy) in Shanghai, China and commissioned pilot reactor
as part of a retrofit project in Soperton, GA. Trained new operations staff at both sites,
wrote standard operating procedures, and documented troubleshooting procedures.
Collaborated with scientists and IT team to define requirements for data standardization,
capture and analysis for lab, pilot, and demonstration-scale fermentation. Conducted user
interviews to capture scientist workflows and produced wireframes for an in-house
fermentation database reporting tool.
Define fermentation process requirements, produce equipment specifications, and
participate in risk identification exercises in the plant design process.
Liaise between fermentation and design engineering team leaders to identify and prioritize
R&D at the laboratory scale that supports technology scale-up and commercialization needs.
