Chicago, IL Bioprocess Engineer Project manage a multi-year, federally-funded $4M project with three partner subawardees. Maintain project budget, schedule, and reporting to the sponsor agency. Coordinate grant applications (including setting project scope, budget, and timeline) submitted to funding bodies such as the Department of Energy and European Commission. Managed of a team of four during commissioning of company’s first-in-kind gas to ethanol fermentation demo plant (100,000 gpy) in Shanghai, China and commissioned pilot reactor as part of a retrofit project in Soperton, GA. Trained new operations staff at both sites, wrote standard operating procedures, and documented troubleshooting procedures. Collaborated with scientists and IT team to define requirements for data standardization, capture and analysis for lab, pilot, and demonstration-scale fermentation. Conducted user interviews to capture scientist workflows and produced wireframes for an in-house fermentation database reporting tool. Define fermentation process requirements, produce equipment specifications, and participate in risk identification exercises in the plant design process. Liaise between fermentation and design engineering team leaders to identify and prioritize R&D at the laboratory scale that supports technology scale-up and commercialization needs. 2011 Boston Scientific Needham, MA Senior Capstone Project at F.W. Olin College Defined performance targets for novel stent design concepts and evaluated designs against the specified benchmarks. Helped define project scope and managed the team budget. 2010 spring Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering Needham, MA Course Assistant, “User-Oriented Collaborative Design” Worked with students to give feedback and guide their semester-long product design projects encompassing needs analysis, persona generation, and rapid prototyping. EDUCATION 2007-2011 Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering Bachelor of Science in Biological Engineering Received four-year full-tuition Olin scholarship.
