Support Groups
HCI Care Services’ grief support groups are open to all who have experienced a loss to
death. You need not have used services by HCI Hospice Care Services to participate in these
sessions, and the groups are free of charge.
Touching Our Grief.
Touching Our Grief is an ongoing educational grief and support
group for adults. Groups meet monthly at or near HCI Hospice Care Services’ offices.

This educational program helps facilitate the basic skills needed to use grief as
an opportunity for growth. The program meets once a week for six weeks in
January/February, April/May, July/August, and October/November at Bright Kavanagh
House, 3000 Easton Boulevard in Des Moines. There is no charge. For more information

Upon request, HCI Care Services offers a six-week grief support group for community groups

Grief Relief
This program is designed for young people in grades 7-12 who are experiencing the “tuff stuff” that comes after someone dies.
This three-hour session is held at all HCI Hospice Care Services locations. For information, please call your local office (contact

Memorial events are held quarterly to honor those who have died. All are welcome to attend these brief
events, held in February, May, August and November in the Des Moines area and in May and November
