The site of Haltermann GmbH, the Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg plant belonging to the HCS Group, whose head office is in Frankfurt, has now become the Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg chemicals and logistics park. The HCS Group is one of the world's leading manufacturers of high quality hydrocarbons and speciality chemicals and operates manufacturing facilities in Belgium, the UK and the USA. The Hamburg plant will focus on manufacturing test and reference fuels and processing high purity hydrocarbons from some of the group's other plants. The site will now operate as a chemical and logistics park, offering interested companies single-source provision of logistics services and state-ofthe-art infrastructure in the areas of storage, analysis and production. TWG Tanklager Wilhelmsburg GmbH is the first company to partner with the HCS Group and make use of the services offered. Hartmut Villeumier, CEO of TWG, says, “The chemicals and logistics park offers us the ideal solution – we can use the existing service and infrastructure capacity flexibly while being optimally connected through the close proximity of the park to port, rail and motorway.” Covering an area of 200 000 m2, the chemicals and logistics park offers users access to about 100 tanks with a total capacity of approximately 150 000 m3. There is also a modern, ISO certified analysis and development laboratory. “From testing oxidation stability through to high performance liquid chromatography and rapid tests for waste water analysis – our analytics service covers the entire range of chemical laboratory services. The first class quality and reliable results of our analyses are a huge advantage for our partners,” Frank Schumacher, Haltermann Site Manager, highlights one of the strengths of the site. Besides being a fully developed site for the production and storage of petroleum products and speciality chemicals with direct access to the Port of Hamburg, filling of liquid products into industrial packaging is also performed here. The infrastructure services offered by Haltermann include the supply of energy and other utilities, waste water treatment and complete provision of logistical tasks for controlled substances, as well as maintenance of all facilities on the premises.
