1. Next ITCO General Meeting: Frankfurt (20 & 21 October)
Over 70 delegates have already registered for the next ITCO General Meeting, taking place at the
Steigenberger Hof Hotel, Frankfurt, Germany, on Monday 20 and Tuesday 21 October 2014.
As there are a limited number of hotel rooms available, we strongly recommend that Members
planning to attend should register– and book their hotel accommodation - as soon as possible. Room
reservation details can be found at the end of this Newsletter
Instead of a Technical Conference Session on Monday 20 October, delegates will this year have the
opportunity to participate in a Technical Site Visit (see details below). On the following day (Tuesday
21 October), there will be a full-day conference, comprising plenary sessions in the morning and
cross-divisional Work Group sessions in the afternoon (further details in Item 3, below).
On the evening of Monday 20 October, there will be a networking “Welcome to Frankfurt”
Networking Reception. The General Meeting will conclude with a Cocktail Reception, followed by
Gala Dinner on Tuesday 21 October.

2. Technical Site Visit to Industriepark Höchst (Monday 20 October 2014)
On the afternoon of Monday 21 October, General Meeting delegates will have the opportunity to
participate in a Technical Site Visit to Industriepark Höchst, 20 minutes from the centre of Frankfurt..
Industriepark Höchst is home to around 90 companies in industries such as: pharmaceuticals,
biotechnology, basic and specialty chemicals, crop protection, food additives and services. Some
22,000 people work at Industriepark Höchst. The site covers 460 hectares (1,137 acres). In 2013, the
companies at the Park invested about EUR 400 million in the site. Total investment since 2000
amounts to some EUR 5.9 billion.
Industriepark Höchst is operated by Infraserv Höchst. Infraserv Höchst provides utilities, waste

Coaches will leave the Steigenberger Hof Hotel at 13:30 for the tour of the facility, which will also
include a visit to the New Logistics Centre (operated by Infraserv Logistics) and the Contargo
Trimodal Port. The visit will last 4 hours in total, with coaches returning to the Hotel at 17:30.
Further information about the Visit, including practical arrangements and registration details, will be
distributed to delegates next month.

4. ITCO Board Meeting (19 & 20 October)
The next meeting of ITCO’s Board of Directors will take place on 19 & 20 October. During the
Meeting, the Board will discuss ITCO strategy for the coming year and also vote for the ITCO
President and Vice-President for the 2015/2016 2-year period (nominations for candidates will be
invited next month).
Members who would like any specific matters to be on the Agenda should contact their Divisional
Director (details of all Divisional Directors can be found on the ITCO website, www.itco.org)
5. Tank Container Village at Transport Logistic, Munich: 5-8 May 2015
Transport Logistic 2015 takes place in Munich, from Tuesday 5 to Friday 8 May 2015. As usual, ITCO
will be organising its Tank Container Village, featuring exhibition stands, a refreshment bar and
meeting area.
Initial planning for the Event is already underway – ITCO is discussing arrangements with the
organisers of Exhibition. An announcement, giving full details and stand booking form, will be
made to ITCO Members on Tuesday 9 September. However, an early-bird booking opportunity for
previous Tank Container Village exhibitors will be sent out on Tuesday 2 September.

6. 4th China Tank Container Logistics Forum
CBI BIZ is organising the 4th China Tank Container Logistics & Packaged Liquid Chemical
Transportation Forum 2014 on September 18th-19th in Shanghai. This year, it is expected to attract
around 150 players in Dangerous chemicals logistics industry, including cargo owners, tank
manufacturers, leasing companies, operators, logistics service providers, etc. Further information

Although the official language of this event is Mandarin (and the majority of delegates are Chinese),
the organisers will be providing English-speaking delegates with simultaneous interpretation and
conference materials in English.

7. logitrans 2014, Istanbul
logitrans – International Transport Logistics Exhibition – in Istanbul will be held from 19-21
November 2014 at the Istanbul Expo Center, next to Atatürk International Airport in Istanbul,
Turkey. The 2013 event attracted 206 exhibitors and almost 12,000 participants, with more than
50% of exhibitors coming from abroad.

IMO CCC Meeting, London (September 2014)

1. IMO CCC Meeting, London (September 2014)
IMO Carriage of Cargoes and Containers (CCC, formerly DSC) meeting is scheduled for September
2014 in London. ITCO will attend the meeting. The provisional agenda includes papers submitted
that refer to tank containers concern the following items:

ISO6346 requirement for remarking tanks with reduced stacking/racking. No change of the
requirement is proposed but suggests that the committee note that some parties requested
clarification of the definition of new container date.
CSC ACEP- Papers concerning the data base for ACEP programmes and potential deficiencies.
Circ. 12 IMO tank marking of T Instruction by the next test date. Papers concerning the work
of the correspondence group and proposed amendment toCirc.12 and IMDG 4.2 concerning
the continued use of IMO portable tanks are the clarification of thee requirement for
marking the T instruction.
Polymerising substance marking and stowage – following the MV Flamini accident report
where findings concluded that polymerisation might have initiated a fire, IMO will consider if
changes are required to the stowage position.
Results of incidents (inspections of containers at port terminal). A number of countries took
part in an initiative to inspect 6500 DG containers and found 13.27% deficiencies concerning
categories including documentation, placarding, markings, CSC plate and structural
condition. Tanks are not readily identifiable in the totals provided except in a category tanks
inappropriate or damaged where 27 deficiencies were reported.
2. Joint RID/ADR/ADN Meeting, Switzerland (September 2014)
RID/ADR/ADN Joint Meeting is scheduled for September in Switzerland. The provisional agenda
includes papers concerning tanks

EN 13648-1:2008, Cryogenic vessels – Safety devices – proposal to include the standard in
ADR/RID 6.8
UN 1381, UN 2447 Phosphorous TU21/TU16 alignment with SMGS Rail. Papers proposes
changes to the water/inert gas blanket. This resubmitted paper is from the previous session
following the lack of support from the tank WG.
