Greenwood Leflore Hospital is seeking applications for the position of Program Manager for their REACH
(Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health) project.
This is a three-year initiative which seeks to create healthier communities by:
1.Strengthening existing capacity to implement locally tailored evidence-and
practice-based, policy, systems, and environmental improvements in priority
populations experiencing disparities in chronic diseases and associated risk factors;
2.Supporting implementation, evaluation, and dissemination of population-based
strategies; and
3.Supporting effective implementation of existing population-wide policy, systems,
and environmental (PSE) improvements, ultimately leading to reducing or
eliminating health disparities in priority populations.
The Program Manager will play a central role in the development, implementation, and management
of the project. The PM works independently and collaboratively with the hospital and CDC staff to
plan, manage, and implement activities in the following areas: public health programming, quality
improvement, community-based participatory approach (CBPA), research and evaluation, resource
development, grant and contract management, social determinants of health knowledge and report
writing, and meeting design and coordination. Other responsibilities include supporting communications
activities and publications/materials development, serving as liaison with the CDC, and establishing and
maintaining partnerships that are integral to the project design.
The PM position requires extensive public health knowledge and experience, as well as excellent
analytical, interpersonal, organizational, and writing skills. Candidates should be strategic thinkers and
solutions-oriented in accomplishing the work. Candidates must practice discretion, sound independent
judgment, the ability to work across sectors and races, and political acumen. The ideal candidate will have
experience working in the southern region of the country with an in-depth understanding of the Mississippi
Delta’s community and political policy framework. In addition, the PM should have knowledge of local
challenges faced by community-based organizations as well as have a commitment to equity and the wellbeing of the residents of the Mississippi Delta.
Work duties may include, but are not limited to:
• Provide content expertise in the development of community-driven health improvement strategies.
• Provide overall project management, including developing and managing timelines, leading project
planning, and coordinating deliverables in collaboration with external partners.
• Monitor program activities to ensure achievement of outcomes and quality completion of grant and/or
contract deliverables.
• Manage program resources.
• Manage and monitor the system for technical assistance requests.
• Develop and/or modify tools such as education curriculum, training modules, and group techniques.
• Conduct webinars, conference call, and face-to-face meetings/training sessions with
identified organizations.
• Work with the identified evaluator in setting up and facilitating focus groups.
• Lead/facilitate community meetings using effective civic engagement techniques to foster
collaboration; actively engage community partners in decision-making; and help create a sustainable
community infrastructure.
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with community leaders, decision makers,
and other key stakeholders.
• Participate in long-and short-term program development and planning.
• Collect and review data to identify needs, trends, and best practices to evaluate and improve the
effectiveness of the project.
• Prepare and submit required program reporting consistent with grant/contract requirements.
• Develop and effectively manage program timelines to ensure timely completion of project requirements.
• Develop and disseminate programmatic and marketing materials.
• Monitor program activities to ensure quality and accuracy of work outcomes.
Employment standards & conditions:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Master’s degree in Public Health or Healthcare Administration preferred with a minimum
of 3 – 5 years of directly related public health experience that includes professional program management is required. The ideal

Strong leadership qualities and familiarity with leadership development methodology
Strong understanding of program management
Demonstrated interest and/or strong understanding of public health issues
Willingness to engage in continuous learning and training
Demonstrated professional aptitude
Knowledge of Mississippi’s history, culture, and geography are a plus.
Ability to work in a high productivity, team culture work environment.

JOB LOCATION: This position is based in Greenwood (Leflore County), Mississippi.
TRAVEL: Travel to the hospital’s clinics in Lexington and Sumner, Mississippi, will be required. Vehicle is required with
valid driver’s license and proof of insurance. Mileage will be reimbursed. Travel may be required to the CDC in Atlanta for
required meetings or conference on an annual basis.
