Gaining a Profound Insight into Chinese-European Business
and Intercultural Exchange
The MA Chinese-European Economics and Business Studies (MA CEEBS)
offers you a course of studies directly concerned with the core issues for companies and institutions working in a Chinese-European business environment.
China’s rapid economic development, its integration into world economy, as
well its significance for the global economy are challenging the development
and competitiveness of companies and institutions at national and international level. In an intercultural setting, you will explore and investigate the
major factors in the economic developments in China and Europe, analysing
such aspects as trade relations and financial flows, and the social and economic
interrelations between these two regions.
The majority of the modules on the Master’s programme include a comparative
Chinese-European perspective. In addition to this cross-cultural learning and
teaching environment, the programme also includes a mandatory semester at
the Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE) in Chengdu,
Sichuan Province, P. R. China.

capital city has a population of around 3.5 million and is not only a magnet
for all the major currents shaping Europe today, whether political, economic,
cultural, scientific or scholarly, but also a vibrant location, attracting people from
all over the world to stay here and contribute to the city’s life. There is no other
European metropolis where the changes shaping today’s Europe are so visible in
so many different ways – and anyone studying here has a chance to experience
these inspiring change processes at first hand and enjoy the diversity of the cultural and political events in the city.

German-Chinese
Partnership Programme
25 years ago the Berlin School of
Economics and Law (BSEL) and the
Southwestern University of Finance
and Economics (SWUFE) established
their partnership. It represents
the pioneer of international
cooperation and was one of the
first collaborations in the field of
economics. Professor and student
exchanges at both universities are
enhanced by joint research projects,
publications and conferences.
All core courses are given in a seminar style, using a wide range of case
studies, presentations and discussions to provide an in-depth review of the
material under consideration. All courses have continual assessment or end
with an exam as specified in the examination regulations (e. g. written exam,
assignment, presentation, oral exam). Course achievement is documented and
measured in credit points in line with the European Credit Transfer System
(ECTS). The entire programme is worth 120 credit points.
Leadership Skills Development and Language Learning
In the Chinese-European business environment, MA CEEBS graduates are
not only expected to have business theory expertise and know how to apply
management techniques. Today’s executives are increasingly expected to have
a broader view or economic and social development and excellent leadership
competences and language abilities as well. The Leadership Skills Development
programme and Language Learning are structured around seminars designed
to develop both the personal competences including language skills.

Application Checklist
»I am deeply grateful to have participated in the CEEBS programme as I not
only learned a great deal academically but also personally. Living in China as
well as being in an international group with classmates from many different
backgrounds was a wonderful experience. The main focus of my studies was on
international trade and led to a sponsored thesis and internship at BASF Asia
Pacific, where I was able to use the knowledge and cultural sensitivity I gained
from the master‹s programme. Now I work at Google’s EMEA headquarter
and I still draw from the many things I learned in these two challenging and
enriching years.«
Applications can be submitted at any
time for the programme starting
in October. Applicants from nonEuropean countries should bear
in mind that it takes time to have a
visa processed (approx. 4 months).
Since the programme has a limited
number of places, we strongly advise
candidates to apply early.
