In spite of the score, this game was an even contest but with the wind, Roche stole an early lead with a swerving shot from distance. This was to prove the pattern of the first half, with both sides having chances , but the wind being the difference. The half time score was 3-0 to Roche. A decision was made to play a longer 2nd half and we were far more into the game with the wind at our backs. However, a mistake in our defence led to a break away Roche goal, 4-0. From this point on, for the remaining 20 minutes of the game, we had Roche on the back foot and did everything but score, until Harvey Barnett ran on to a great through ball and tucked it coolly into the bottom corner, 4-1! We continued to press, but with 5 minutes to go, Roche broke away from our pressure and scored a 5th goal that killed any chances of an unlikely comeback. The boys, as always, were a credit to the school and took defeat well. A great attitude from a great team who are a real credit to the school. Thank you to all who came and supported the team, it really makes us play better when you cheer us on!! Thank you. Squad:- William Gard, Eli Lee, Rory Moores, Tom Higman, George Loud, Harvey Barnett (C), John Gard, Alfie Grey, Robin Dolan, Ben Lucas. HIGH 5 We had had lots of practice since our last match against Roche. Even though we were nervous, we were better prepared to take them on. We started really well with Jasmin Heard and Paris McDermott as our GA and GS. Both scored twice within the first quarter but Roche also managed to score a couple of goals even though we had some great defending from Zach Morley and Jake Allen. In the second quarter we had some great attempts from Lizzie Allen and Jake Allen, who managed to score twice. At half time the score was 6 – 2 to us and we were excited at the prospect of winning this game. In the third and fourth quarter Roche managed to score 4 goals despite some fantastic defending from Ellise James and Alesha Tonkin against a much bigger and older Roche team, but we still managed to hold them off, with Jasmin Heard and Paris McDermott scoring our final 2 goals of the match to leave the total score 8-6 to Luxulyan. Well done Luxulyan for a fantastic game and thank you to all the parents that came to cheer us on. Team:- Lizzie and Jake Allen, Paris McDermott, Jasmin Heard, Zach Morley, Alesha Tonkin, Ellise James.
