The Market
Ukraine is one the most important agricultural producers worldwide. There
is significant growth potential especially for the food processing industry.
Despite the economic crisis the food production has seen continuous growth
in recent years. The agricultural and food exports account for more than
25% of the total exports (2012, 2013) and represent a significant share of
Ukraine’s foreign trade. The major food exports are milk products, confectionery and bakery products, as well as beverages. In addition big export
potential is seen in meat and sausages. The ongoing political and economic
crisis in the country presents a big challenge to producers, but provides at
the same time a good opportunity: the companies are forced to look for
new markets for their products and adapt their production to international
standards. This generates numerous opportunities and chances for foreign
manufacturers of food processing and packaging equipment.
The Exhibition
The annual IFFIP (International Forum Food Industry and Packaging) was
founded in 2009 through integration of the well-established exhibitions Food
Expo (since 1996) and Pack Fair (since 2001). The goal was to establish a
platform that covers the whole range of products and services for the food
industry: from raw material processing to finished products. Since that time
the IFFIP forum has become the premier event for food and packaging industries in Ukraine. The IFFIP forum consists of four shows Pack Fair, FoodTechMash, Food Expo, Bakery and Confectionery Industry, of which the former
two are gaining more importance in the light of regional economic development.
