Athens, March 27th, 2014 HELLENIC CABLES HELLENIC CABLE INDUSTRY S.A. ANNOUNCEMENT 93 million Euro submarine cable project assigned to HELLENIC CABLES HELLENIC CABLES, one of the few producers of high- voltage submarine cables worldwide, would like to inform that it has been commissioned by ADMIE (Independent Power Transmission Operator) the second sub-project of the Cyclades Islands Interconnection Tender (DAPM-41303/15.10.2013) amounting to 93 million Euro. The project involves underground and submarine cable links of 150 kV between the islands Syros-Tinos, Syros-Mykonos, Syros-Paros and a 150 kV cable termination in Tinos. HELLENIC CABLES undertakes, in addition to the supply of cables, the cable laying, the protection of cables in coastal parts and the necessary connections with the existing network of ADMIE. The contract will be signed after the pre-contractual audit required by the Court of Audit (Elegktiko Synedrio). The high voltage submarine cables will be produced on the premises of subsidiary FULGOR S.A. in Corinth. After completing an investment plan amounting to 55 million Euro, FULGOR has obtained facilities and cutting edge equipment for the production of these specialized products. Additionally, the company has produced more than 900 km of medium voltage submarine cables up to 33 kV, and more than 2,200 km submarine fiber optic cables, and has installed - acting as a contractor for turnkey projects - most of the submarine power cables and about 1,000 km of submarine fiber optic cables. The interconnection of Cyclades Islands to the Greek Power Grid will be instrumental in the development of the Cyclades and will ensure the best environmental and economic conditions for local communities, while benefiting Greek consumers of electricity by lessening the expenses for Social Welfare Charges (IKO).
