The objectives of this program are to help
the Advocate:
• explain the process and how it works
• determine what grounds may exist
• determine which tribunal is competent
for the case
• provide advice in drafting the libellus

• answer any questions that might arise
during the case
• provide the advocate’s brief to help to

Fr. Capucci received his Doctorate in Canon Law
from the St. Pio X Canon Law Faculty, Venice,
Italy and is currently the Judicial Vicar at the
Archdiocese of Denver.

– Mr. Alessandro Fanella, J.C.D.
Mr. Fanella received his Doctorate in Canon Law
from Potificia Universitas Lateranensis and
worked as Defender of the Bond ad actum in the
Tribunal of first and second instance of the
Vicariate of Rome and simultaneously he served
as Defender of the Bond ad actum at the Roman
Rota Tribunal. He also obtained the title of
Advocate of the Roman Rota Tribunal.
–Mr. Stephen Garbitelli, J.C.L.
Mr. Garbitellli received his Licentiate in Canon
Law from the Catholic University of America in
Washington, DC. Previously, he worked in the
Tribunal of the Diocese of Portland, Maine, until
moving to Colorado in 2012. Mr. Garbitelli
serves as a judge and assists with other canonical
matters. He is married and has three children.
– Sister Francisca Igweilo, J.C.L.
Sister Francisca Igweilo is a Nigerian Dominican
Sister. She obtained her license in Canon Law
from Saint Paul University, Ottawa, Canada. She
serves as the Defender of the Bond for the
Archdiocese of Denver.
– Mr. Carlos Venegas, J. C. L.
Mr. Venegas earned his JCL from the Angelicum
in Rome and has worked in the Tribunal and
Canonical Ministries in Los Angeles and Boise.
He serves as a judge and assists with other
canonical matters.
