CANON’S UNOPPOSED MOTION FOR AN EXTENSION
OF TIME TO OBJECT TO ILG’S PROPOSED EXPERTS
Pursuant to 19 C.F.R. § 210.15(d), Complainants Canon Inc., Canon U.S.A., Inc., and
Canon Virginia, Inc. (collectively “Canon”) hereby request an extension of time until August 12,
2014 to object, if warranted, to the disclosure of Canon’s confidential business information to
Respondent International Laser Group, Inc.’s (“ILG”) proposed experts Dr. Larry Stauffer and
Dr. Marcos Esterman. Canon has conferred with ILG pursuant to Ground Rule 5.e, and ILG has
agreed to this extension.
On July 28, 2014, ILG notified Canon that it intends to disclose confidential business
information to Dr. Stauffer, and on July 29, 2014, ILG notified Canon that it intends to disclose
confidential business information to Dr. Esterman. Under the terms of the protective order
(Order No. 1), Canon has until August 7, 2014 to object to the disclosure of confidential business
information to Dr. Stauffer, and until August 8, 2014 to object to the disclosure of confidential
business information to Dr. Esterman. The extension that Canon seeks is necessary in order for
Canon to investigate whether and to what extent Dr. Stauffer and Dr. Esterman may have
received confidential Canon information relevant to this investigation through their prior work
experience. Therefore, Canon respectfully requests that the Administrative Law Judge grant this
motion for an extension of time.
