A Night of Innovations
On October 16, Ridgewood High School science
teachers, Dr. Lillian Labowsky and Dr. Harold
Nelson took a group of students to the New
Jersey Inventors Hall of Fame Awards Banquet.
The event was held in Hoboken and honored
those inventors who, over a lifetime of
invention, have contributed significantly to the
welfare and finances of the state of New Jersey. One such honoree was cosmonaut, Dr.
Greg Olsen, who talked about his experiences
of orbiting the Earth on the International Space
Station (ISS).

RHS POLICY CORNER: Period Nine
Period 9 (2:58 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.) is a part of the school day. Students
who have been assigned a period 9 responsibility by a teacher must
honor it. Failure to do so will result in a 7:15 a.m. detention being
assigned to the student; the Period 9 must still be made up.
If two or more teachers request a Period 9 on the same day, the first
request must be honored and the others rescheduled. The teacher
with whom the student serves the Period 9 will give a note to
present to the other teachers. The student must request this note.

A Window Into Ridgewood High School
Early Morning Fire Alarms
Prior to the start of school on Thursday, October 23, the fire
alarm at Ridgewood High School was activated. The building was
properly evacuated, and the reason for the alarm turned out to
be a wiring issue that is currently being fixed. At no time were
the students ever in danger. The students reentered the building
in time for the start of their Period 1 classes.
Students in Susan Nold’s English class learn an
Elizabethan dance.
In the future, we ask for all parents to please be mindful, when
the school is being evacuated for any reason, that there should
be no cars trying to enter the parking lot or Heermance Place.
These are the areas the students evacuate to and cars coming in
these entrance ways cause backups and potentially hazardous
conditions. We appreciate your cooperation.
Students in Ernestina Gagliano’s foods class practice
the art of plating French toast.
Student representative, Rebecca Tomilchik, speaks at a meeting of the
Ridgewood Board of Education. The student representative gives a
monthly report to the board as part of her regular duties.
QUOTE TO REMEMBER...
"Time is a companion that goes with us on a journey. It reminds us to
cherish each moment, because it will never come again. What we leave
behind is not as important as how we have lived."
Students use their Chromebooks in class to answer
a survey in real time.
