1. Welcoming and opening of the meeting

5. Decisions taken at the last CEN/TC 337 Plenary meeting
The last decisions taken at the last CEN/TC 337 Plenary meeting are reminded:
CEN/TC 337 decides to register in its active work program, the work item corresponding to the revision
of EN 15436-2:2008.
CEN/TC 337 decides to register the subject corresponding to the conversion of the Technical
Specification (CEN/TS 155436-3) into an European Standard (EN 15436-3:2009) as a potential future
new work item in its work program.
6. Information from Secretary of CEN/TC 337
EN 15436-4:2009 is under systematic review.
Secretary informs the WG2 that a decision should be taken by the end of the meeting about the part 4:
revision, confirmation or withdrawal?
7. Discussion on the comments received on the following European documents
7.1 EN 15436-2 (Document N 008)
7.2 EN 15436-3 (Document N 009)
Decision 1:
- Taking into account Germany's concern regarding the part 3 and the importance given to declared
measured values compared to the main aim of the testing method,
- Taking into account that the main aim of the testing method is to gain experience to establish if a
machine is able to pass or not the 4 hours test in accordance to clauses 7.4.2 or 8.4.2 of part 2 in
order to ensure that a machine will be able to maintain its power performance in working conditions,
WG2 decides to transfer the table 1 (declared measured values) of the current part 3 in an
informative annex.
Decision 2:
- Taking into consideration the urgent need to have a European Standard dealing with power
performance aspects of grass and brush cutting machinery and the CEN timeframe
- Taking into consideration the fact that the intention is to cover the major part of the European market
(and not the whole market)
- Taking into consideration the specific context in some European countries regarding the use of
European Standards (e.g. Germany)
WG 2 decides as a first step (transitional period) to exclude from the scope of part 2 and 3
grass and brush-cutting machinery which are intended to be mounted on trucks and selfpropelled machinery.
During the transitional period, WG2 is ready either to improve the testing method described
currently in the part 2 and/or develop in parallel an alternative test
Decision 3:
WG2 asks WG 2 Secretary to adapt the current part 2 and 3 in accordance with the above
decisions (e.g. reduce the scope)
Decision 4:
WG2 will make the advice to confirm the part 4 at the next CEN/TC 337 plenary meeting
8. Schedule of further steps
WG2 Secretary will circulate the new drafts (prEN 15436 parts 2 and 3) to WG2 experts within two
weeks and invite them to send comments (if needed) by 17th of March 2014 at the latest, using the
usual CEN template. Depending on the result of this new consultation, the next WG2 meeting will be
confirmed or not.
