About Sennheiser
The Goal
For more than 65 years, Sennheiser has stood for quality
products, genuine sound and customized solutions when it
comes to recording, transmission and reproduction of sound.
Sennheiser uses Oracle's JD Edwards EnterpriseOne (JDE E1)
ERP system and required an integration solution for the
connection of Sugar, which was being introduced as its CRM
system.
Today's product portfolio ranges from wired and wireless
microphone and monitoring systems, to conference and
information technology, from audiological products to
headsets for aviation.
With annual revenues of EUR 584.4 million in 2012 and
2,329 employees worldwide (1,226 of them in Germany
and 1,103 abroad), Sennheiser is considered one of the
market leaders in the audio solution market.
Currently, the company has three manufacturing facilities in
Germany, Ireland and the United States, as well as sales
subsidiaries in France, Great Britain, Belgium, the Netherlands,
Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Germany, Denmark (Nordic),
Russia, Hong Kong, India, Singapore, Japan, China, Australia,
New Zealand, Canada, Mexico and the United States.

"We have been searching for a solution that would not just
couple Sugar and JD Edwards, but could also be used as a
central platform for the integration of the entire software
landscape," said Klaus Höling, Director IT and Group CIO, of
Sennheiser Electronic GmbH.
The integration platform also had to be flexible and at the
same time stable, easy-to-use and maintain. In addition,
Sennheiser wanted to use the same integration platform for
more efficient integration of its core JD Edwards EnterpriseOne
application with its heterogeneous application landscape
including IBM Enterprise Content Management (ECM), PLM
Product Lifecycle Management System (CIM Database), Lotus
Notes and MicroStrategy.
SUCCESS STORY
The Solution
Advantages
After careful investigation, Sennheiser selected Magic xpi
Integration Platform for its central integration platform. A
crucial factor in this decision was Magic's achievement of
Oracle Validated Integration for JD Edwards EnterpriseOne
status and its optimized native adapter for Sugar, which
eliminated the need for complex interface programming.
With Magic xpi, Sennheiser has chosen a central integration
platform that easily integrates the new CRM system into the
existing ERP environment of JD Edwards and ensures smooth
communication.
Using a proof-of-concept process, Magic Software was able
to demonstrate and prove the integration between Sugar and
JD Edwards along with strong technical knowledge of both
software environments.
In addition, the entire concept of a central integration platform
that could incorporate all enterprise systems in a hub-andspoke model was very important for Sennheiser. The model
has significant advantages compared to point-to-point
integration: it makes for easy integration and provides for
clear, easy-to-maintain infrastructure.
At Sennheiser, Magic xpi now manages communication
between JD Edwards EnterpriseOne and Sugar, in both
directions. This includes the creation and updating of account
information, sales information, billing information and
delivery dates. Sennheiser plans to use Magic xpi as a central
integration hub to link its other enterprise systems, including
Warehouse Management, BI and Lotus Notes.
The numerous standard adapters of Magic xpi ensure that
future integration projects are implemented quickly and easily.
Thus, complex interface programming is now a thing of the past.
The hub-and-spoke structure with Magic xpi in the center
ensures clarity and easy maintainability of all enterprise IT
systems. Point-to-point connections between individual systems,
which combined lead to confusing and difficult-to-maintain
"spaghetti integration", are no longer necessary. Each
application is simply connected to JD Edwards via Magic xpi.
Data silos, duplicate data and similar disadvantages of
applications that work in isolation were eliminated affordably
and can be avoided in the future. This ensures future security
for Sennheiser from an enterprise IT perspective. The software
landscape can now be quickly and easily adapted to new
market demands.
Since Magic xpi includes many business application
adapters, the system operates at Sennheiser as a data hub.
The data is taken from the respective source application
systems, transformed according to business rules and application requirements, and is then distributed in the correct
format to relevant destination applications. Therefore, the
problem of data silos is now a thing of the past.
