Venita McCellon-Allen
President and COO
Howdy, WiNUP members! Welcome to the Big D! This is such a great city, with so many wonderful things to see and do. While Southwestern Electric Power Company is headquartered in Shreveport, Louisiana, SWEPCO has offices in Dallas and other Northeast Texas cities. In fact, I grew up just a few hours from here, and I’m a proud fighting Texas A&M Aggie (Gig ‘em!). In addition to a little two steppin,’ I hope this WiNUP conference brings you valuable new skills and insights, wonderful new friends and a little time to relax and enjoy your time in the Lone Star State. Events like the annual WiNUP Conference help us learn so much about our changing industry, as well as a little about ourselves as female professionals with careers in what was once a male-‐dominated industry. The ArkLaTex, North Texas and South Texas WiNUP Chapters have been hard at work, making sure the agenda is jam-‐packed with interesting topics and fun activities. So, sit back, relax and get ready to have a big time in Texas! 4
WELCOME
Welcome to the 2014 WiNUP International Conference and the Gulf
Coast! I'm thrilled that a dedicated group of women professionals like you
have gathered together to discuss ways to strengthen the energy and utility
industry while empowering women to succeed.
Women all across the world continue to play a growing and important role
in every aspect of the energy industry. I'm honored to be the first woman to
chair the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources. Together,
I'm confident that we can build a bold and strong energy policy that
increases domestic energy production, creates millions of jobs right here at
home and makes us more energy secure.
Again, welcome and I hope the 2014 WiNUP International Conference is
successful this year and in the years to come.
U.S. Senator Mary L. Landrieu (D-La.)

George W. Bush Presidential Center | Women’s Initiative
“Women around the world serve as catalysts for change.”
Mrs. Laura W. Bush
Women play a vital role in the success and prosperity of every nation, yet in many parts of the
world women and girls are illiterate and denied basic human rights.
Improving the lives of women and girls with education and economic opportunity provides the
fastest way to growing a nation’s economy, raising living standards and promoting peace. The
Women’s Initiative at the Bush Institute works within the Institute’s areas of policy engagement
to improve access to education, health care and economic opportunity for women and
children. In addition, the Initiative has its own programs and projects.

AT&T Stadium
AT&T Stadium is more than the home of the Dallas Cowboys; it is a world of facts and figures
about the world's largest domed structure, art museum and classroom. Our tour of the AT&T
Stadium will be filled with facts and figures about the planning, engineering, operation and
upkeep of this amazing structure. Our tour guide will cover more than 100 building and
engineering elements that make this colossal structure unique not only as stadiums go, but
unique among the great buildings and monuments in the world. Because WINUP is particularly
interested in energy use and energy savings elements, our guide will be an engineer, specially
directed to take us behind the scenes into areas the general public never sees, including
recycling, renewable resources, how the roof retracts and how electricity is used to serve the
awesome facility.
