The venue for the 2015 New Chairs’ Course is still to be confirmed, but it will take place in the Birmingham/Solihull area. It would be appreciated if Chairs or Board Development Officers could check at the next Board meeting that every member has received a copy. Board Development Officers should also ensure that members appointed after receipt of this letter receive a copy. The National Training Programme will be posted on the IMB Academy and the IMB website (www.imb.gov.uk) and additional copies can be downloaded if required. Foundation Courses and Continued Development Courses are now generic and open to all members, whether attached to Immigration Removal Centres, Short Term Holding Facilities or Prisons. Members are urged to apply for courses that are within their geographic region to minimise travel costs. Please be aware that you may be asked to attend a course nearer your home. Vice Chairs’ Course Vice Chairs Open to newly appointed Vice Chairs. Existing Vice Chairs who would like to attend as a refresher should speak to Mark Lambert/Beverley Folkes in the first instance. Foundation Course Members in their Probationary Year. This is a mandatory course to be attended in their first 12 months of a member’s appointment to the Board. Members are advised to apply early in their probationary year, but not attend until they have at least 3 months’ service. This course is an integral element of the Probationary Year and participants must attend the entire course. Continued Development Board Members with at least two years service Course Members who have not had any training for at least 2-3 years are especially encouraged to apply. Board Development Board Development Officers Officer Course Open to new BDOs due to take up post on 1st January 2015 and existing BDOs requiring refresher training. IMB Clerks IMB Clerks Establishment/Centre employees appointed as IMB Clerks. Please note: Clerks should seek permission from line management to attend and subsistence and travel costs must be borne by their home establishment.
