Chick-fil-A Leader Academy members need to stop by Mrs. Brodowski’s class to get a DO
GOOD DECEMBER calendar of events!

Help send a young girl in South America to school! The National Spanish Honor Society is
currently raising money to send a young girl to school. Please see Señorita Douglas in 222 or
any National Spanish Honor Society member to make a donation.

Tickets for the annual ECHS Student/Faculty basketball game go on sale in the lunchroom, next
week starting on Monday, November 17th. The price is $5 or 15 cans. All proceeds go to Can-AThon. Due to a limited number of seats, tickets will be sold based on seniority. Tickets are
available for purchase beginning on the following days: Seniors- Monday, Juniors- Tuesday,
Sophomores- Wednesday, Freshmen- Thursday.

Attention all service club members (Beta Club, French/Spanish/NHS): if you are in need of
service hours for your organization, the World Language Department has a job for you! Please
come see Mrs. Barber or Mrs. deAza-Post on Starr Hall, or Mrs. Poling on Brantley to sign up to
work the ECHS Poetry Competition on Saturday, November 15th.

JV Winterguard Auditions will be held Monday, Nov. 17 – Friday, Nov. 21 from 4:30 to 7:00
pm. Meet in the band room. This is for any student who did not march fall colorguard. Pick
up an info packet in the band room.

STEM Academy Members- Monthly meeting will be on November 17 due to Thanksgiving
Break.

Spanish Club meets on Thursday, November 20th in Room 141.



The Gay Straight Alliance will be meeting in room 335 on Wednesday, November 19 from
3:30-4:30. Mark your calendars!

The monthly meeting of the Advanced Academic Club will take place on Wednesday the 19th
after school in Mrs. Stefenelli’s room 140. Make up meeting will be Thursday morning the 20th.
All members are required to attend and membership will be closing the 21st of November.

STEM Academy Applicants- Acceptance letters will be delayed until Mentoring on November
19th. Induction will be changed to Thursday December 18th @ 5:30.


Advanced Academic members need to attend the club’s monthly meeting on November 19th.
Make up meeting will be Thursday morning November 20th. All members are required to attend
and membership will be closing the 21st of November. Attendance counts towards active
membership. If you are interested in ordering a club shirt, you must see Mrs. Stefenelli
immediately. . The presentation this month will deal with a comparison of UGA, Georgia Tech,
Kennesaw University, and the Georgia State University.

Indian Princess Benefit Pageant Entry forms are available from Mrs. Thompson (BY322) or Ms.
Williams (BN703). Forms and fees are due to Mrs. Thompson by November 20th. MANDATORY
meeting on November 20th at 3:45 in the 9th Grade cafeteria.

The next International Club meeting is Thursday, November 20 from 3 :30 to 4 :20 in the Main
Cafeteria. Come celebrate the land of FROZEN with food from Denmark, Sweden, Norway and
Finland.

Environmental Club will meet on Thursday, November 20th in Mrs. Ahmann’s room 1407
until 4:15. Come by and recycle with us.

Can-A-Thon time is here! Every year Coweta County Schools participates in a canned food
drive that benefits the Coweta County Food Pantry. Last year ECHS had the highest
donation of the ENTIRE COUNTY! Let’s keep the tradition alive! This year’s Can-A-Thon is
being hosted by the Newnan Junior Service League, and will be ongoing to the
Thanksgiving Break (Friday, 11/21). All 3rd block classes will be competing to see who can
collect the most cans/donations. The winning 3rd block will win a Pizza Party! Cans,
cash, and checks (made payable to East Coweta High School) are accepted.

The ECHS Chess Club meets on Monday’s at 3:40pm in the 9th grade media center.

Followers of Christ will meet in Mrs. Lanave’s room, RD 1008 on Tuesdays from 3:45 –
4:45. New members are always welcome.

East Coweta Fellowship of Christian Athletes meets every Friday morning at 7:45
in the football theatre room.


The East Coweta Gridiron Club has old East Coweta Football Jerseys available for
purchase at $10 per jersey. These jerseys were game jerseys from the 1990s – early
2000s. We thought you might be interested in purchasing a jersey to wear to the game
or as a keepsake. All proceeds from the sales of the jerseys will go back into the
supporting the football program. All jersey numbers are not available. There are white
jerseys, purple jerseys and purple mesh jerseys. Please remember these are game worn
jerseys and as such are in game worn condition. Please contact Claire Branch @

Year Planning, Dual Enrollment and College Admissions will be given.

DUAL ENROLLMENT INFORMATION NIGHT, Tuesday, December 16, 2014, 6 pm @ ECHS Main
Cafeteria. Parents and students are invited to attend this informative session on Dual
enrollment /Early college credit.
On Campus College Information Sessions:
The EC Guidance Counselors will host On Campus College Visits for Juniors and Seniors throughout the
fall and a few in the spring. Space for these sessions will be limited and students will be required to sign
up ahead of time in the guidance office. These sessions will be widely advertised in the Indian News, on
the Counseling Twitter (@eccounselors.com) and Edmodo accounts and during daily announcements.
Berry College will present an Information Session for EC Juniors and Seniors


SENIOR FORMALS – TO order pictures from the senior formal sitting, the student
should
have received a code from the company. The phone number for seniors to call in order to get

Senior Dues are $30.00 until December 19th.
Beginning January 1st they are $40 until April
1st, and $50 after April 1st. Senior dues must be paid in order to attend the Senior Picnic.
You will receive your picnic ticket at the same time that you pick up your yearbook, report
then to the stadium for lunch and yearbook signing.



Turn in formal and casual pictures . DUE DATE is December 16th.

January 15, 2015- Financial Aid/HOPE Scholarship Night at ECHS
Scholarship Information

The Colored Rocks Foundation will award 15 cash prizes to male students of color who graduate
from a high school in Georgia and who set positive examples and make worthy commitments to
the success of their peers. To enter, students are asked to register at www.coloredrocks.org and
submit an essay that describes why they believe themselves to be a Colored Rock, along with an
outline of a personal plan to help develop future Colored Rocks among at-risk students
attending middle, elementary or high schools in Georgia. Applications are accepted until
midnight, December 6, 2014 for the cash award.

Graduating high school seniors who operate their own small business are eligible to receive a
2015 NFIB Young Entrepreneur Award from the NFIB You Entrepreneur Foundation. Visit

December 18, 2014.

The Bank of America Charitable Foundation’s Student Leaders® Program is accepting
applications for the 2015 Student Leaders® program. This program is for current juniors and
seniors who have a passion for improving their communities. The program consists of two
components: A)A summer eight-week paid internship with a nonprofit organization selected by
the bank. This internship is designed to provide opportunities for the students to develop and
apply leadership skills through hands-on work experience, while raising their awareness of
community issues addressed by their Host Organization. B)The week-long, all-expense paid
Student Leaders Summit in Washington, D.C. from July 12-17, 2015. Conducted in partnership
with the Close Up Foundation, the Summit introduces students to aspects of civic, social and
business leadership and provides them with knowledge and skills they will use throughout their
life to create positive community change.

BBB (Better Business Bureau) will start accepting applications for their 2015 Student of Integrity
Scholarships on December 1st. Their scholarship program is funded by their Educational
Foundation and each year they give six $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors who will be
graduating in 2015 from specific counties in Georgia. Applications required an essay, and the
application forms are available on East Coweta’s Guidance and Scholarship Edmodo page.
Deadline for entries will be February 13, 2015.

The Patrons of the Centre who support the Centre for Performing and Visual Arts in Coweta
County offer 2 scholarships to graduating seniors. The Richard Brooks Fine Arts Scholarship and
the Wynn Handman Theatrical Study Scholarship. Students who are interested in studying art,
dance,
voice
or
theatre
are
encouraged
to
apply.

Attendance Notes

Certificate of Attendance (COA) and ADAP Alcohol and Drug Awareness Certificate should be
signed up 24 hours in advance. The cost is $1.00 each to sign up.

Please refer to the student handbook for information concerning all attendance policies
including CCSS Truancy and TAADRA laws and consequences.

As always we do not take phone calls for CHECK OUTS. - If you are needing to CHECK OUT your
student: you may send an e-mail or a fax with a copy of your ID attached to it. Send e-mails to:

Change in Certificates of Attendance: all students including 15 to 18 years of age or currently
enrolled in high school - YOUR ATTENDANCE COUNTS- if you miss 40 blocks or 10 days from
ECHS or CEC you will lose your right to drive in the state of Georgia.
PUBLIC NOTICE : Be it known that all schools in the Coweta County School System have been duly
inspected for asbestos according to EPA regulations and an Asbestos Management Plan is available at
each school.
