Coal-Black are typical Austrian designs (there are 5 basic Austrian 'harp designs) - generally very loud, high high-end harmonic content, easy to play. Good for trebly melody lines or percussive sounds. We stock C-C chromatic sets of the "Coal-Black" mid-range model that now come in a durable plastic "Pistol Case." Hörzing Jakutic (yah-KUtik) have been discontinued by the maker. Schlütter Trumps – Tuned - Engineer and toolmaker Andreas Schlütter, of Germany, produces patented trumps in the range of DD through D to d. These trumps have frames of German silver and tongues of special steel. The frame is stamped with key in the German system (C-Cis-D-Eis-E-F-Fis-AsA-B-H-C). Most trigger tips are now looped. Schlütter trumps can be very loud and provide a wide array of sometimes unusual harmonic content. We now offer his newly designed Bass models and an 8 pc. Diatonic set Lo-C-C. Khomus is a joy to play. The looped trigger allows very fast plucking in both directions and the round frame is easy to grip. It has a smooth tone with no breath, but copious harmonics appear when punched with an exhale. Untuned (though most are around an F#). Loud. For the more practiced player. Due to popular demand, we now offer the “large-end” by Pavel rather than Vladimir. Dan Moi – Vietnamese Brass Hmong Harps – Made by a Hmong tribe of the northern mountains of Vietnam. Dan Moi means “Lip instrument,” and is played against the lips instead of the teeth. It gives a rewarding sound full of brilliant harmonics. Easy to play, very fragile and must be treated with care. Untuned. Bass Dan Moi – Lower tone, slightly larger and heavier gauge. Dan Moi – Brass Harp Sets - These magical sets are not very loud, nor are they tuned to specific pitch's. They are a lovely arrangement of sonorous pitch's which have a special way of being songfull. While not for novice players, the experienced player will find great reward in these multi-pitched sets. The 3 leaf sets are slightly smaller & typically higher pitched than the 4 leaf sets. Kubings (Bamboo Trumps from the Philippines) - Handmade by various tribes of the Philippines, we use the term "Kubing" to describe these bamboo trumps though many names are used. These easy to play instruments feature a percussive sound, full of tone, but with short sustain as compared to a steel trump. Kubings are held against the lips rather than the teeth. Excellent for the novice. Cambodian Bamboo Jew’s Harps - We find these bamboo jew's harps are easy to hold and may be longer lasting due to being made of thicker material than many other similar instruments. Held against the lips, they are easy to play and offer the same full, percussive sound as the "Kubings." Some are decorated, some are not. . Excellent for the novice. Humanatone™ - Nose flute by Trophy Music. This little gem plays flute tones with mouth controlled pitch. Usually considered a child's toy, Humanatone are capable of great musical expression. Unsurpassed for that loud whistle so often used to express appreciation for a great pair of legs. We sell them in groups of 3 as the quality of each varies a bit. A quantity discount is offered for purchases of 144 and over in multiples of 12. Mo Nhip – Vietnamese percussive trump – Woodblock sound varied by mouth shape. Held against the lips. Made of wood and bamboo. Original Szilágyi’s Jew’s Harps (Legátor-S Kft.) Tuned & Untuned Hand-crafted in Hungary by veteran maker Zóltan Szilágyi whose long experience has led to the development of many models of 'harps, each with different qualities and tessitura. The Chancellor is easy to play, loud, and usually untuned. We stock the popular Black Fire family of 'harps in most common keys and consider these among the finest 'harps we've ever encountered. Triggers are usually bent. Chromatic sets are available in LowA to Mid-A; and Mid-A to High-A. Each in a neat wooden box. Diatonic sets (no sharps or flats) are available in Low-A to Mid-A, also in a wooden box. We can special order other trumps by Szilágyi. Whitlow Jaw Harps – Tuned. Robbie Clement uses 3/16" stainless steel key stock to create traditional American style ‘harps. Precisely tuned and shipped to you in a protective plastic case, these fine instruments are available chromatically from C-1 to D-2 and represent a great value in hand made harps. Higher keys have looped triggers; Lower keys have bent triggers. The maker claims the loop on lower keys detracts from the flexibility of the reed and thus overall volume. Guaranteed not to break. Good medium-loud sound. Wimmer Maultrommeln - The Wimmer (pronounced Vimmer) family have been producing maultrommeln (jew's harps) since the 1700s.. These fine instruments are of typical Austrian design and tone. Trigger tips are bent for inward plucking. Wimmer Classroom Sets – 12 pieces. - Untuned – Large Austrian style trumps suitable for distribution to groups. Not pro-trumps but great for instruction and getting people started. Sold in quantities only. Morchang & Morsing - India - Hand forged and crafted – Untuned. Looped triggers for fast in-and-out playing. Great for percussive sounds. The reeds are quite stiff by our ears. Elongated handles. The Morchang, a classical Carnatic instrument, is from South India. The Morsing is from Northwestern India, slightly smaller, and has a looped "handle.” Murchunga - Nepal - Brass frame and Steel reed. Hand forged and crafted. Untuned with a looped trigger for fast in-and-out playing. Great for percussive sounds. The reeds are not as stiff as the India trumps and the frame is much smaller. Elongated handle. Now four types. C D S & E N T S Brass and Steel Altai Khomus by Pavel Potkin –This wonderful little Wayland Harman Design Reeded MouthBows - Now Made by MM Partner Dan Gossi Currently constructed of Tennessee cedar with maple and walnut components. The bow is about 37 inches long. Features a high quality enclosed guitar-type tuner, steel string, and Wayland's unique reed design that transfers more of the string's energy to the player's mouth. The overtones are strong and clear as compared to other mouthbows. Includes striking stick and instructions on play and maintenance. 2 String model now available Adding an additional string, provides the ability to tune both strings to the same pitch for extra volume. They can also be tuned a third, fifth, or octave apart for richer harmonics and overtones. The additional string also provides the player greater creativity and versatility.
