Build’n A Brand Stock Show Program
Don’t forget your curry comb & rattle paddle!
Sandeen Genetics Build’n A Brand Sale • Page 1
It is our pleasure to welcome you to the 5th Annual
“Buildin’ A Brand” production sale. We appreciate the fact that
you have taken time out of your busy schedule to evaluate our
program, and hope that you are able to find our cattle to be both
useful and versatile. We are grateful for our customers that have
kept us in the business of doing what we love, and we put a high
value on your friendship and loyalty.
Our unwavering commitment to producing highly
efficient, functional cattle that are productive and long lasting
while still possessing a little extra “look” remains on course. We
maintain our belief that the SimAngus cattle are still the most effective tool in achieving these goals. They are also the most versatile hybrid on the market; being accepted by purebred breeders,
club calf producers, and commercial cattlemen alike. For as long
as I can remember we have tried to raise cattle that will live long
and productive lives in a “real world” environment, but are still
phenotypically equipped to produce high quality show cattle. It
is, no doubt, a bit of balancing act, but seems to be evolving in a
favorable manner.
Headlining this year’s sale is the dam of Sandeen Upper
Class, Sandeen Donna 7386. Backing her up will be a choice lot
of two of our finest Upper Class daughters as well as an incredibly impressive set of three quarter blood descendants from the
Donna tribe, that we firmly believe posses the proper characteristics to propel even a purebred operation to new heights. As you
study this catalog from front to back we think you will find it to
be as consistent in profit minded, forward thinking traits as any
you will see all year.
Once again we would like to thank the Schooley family for their commitment to bringing their best, as well as all of
our guest consignors including our newest contributor Forest
Brook Farms of Wisconsin. We also need to thank everyone that
helps to make this sale possible. We are incredibly fortunate &
blessed that our entire sale crew, from the behind the scene’s
help to those front and center, is made up of some of our very
best friends both locally and nation wide. These are some of the
most loyal and highly talented folks in the business and we are
TRULY honored to call each and every one of them a friend!!!

It is no secret that a great cow can put a herd on the map faster than any other input you
can add to your operation. The only problem is that great cow families are not created over night,
they take years and years of planned matings for the most important profitable traits needed in
the industry. The Donna Tribe began with KMK Donna J311 and that legacy lives on today in
the females represented in this catalog as well as the multiple herd sires who have been produced
by this family. Now is your chance to obtain part of a tremendous cow family that is focused on
efficiency, structural integrity, productivity, and added eye-appeal.

Sandeen Upper Class
It is hard to describe in words the Legacy that the Donna family has left, not only in our herd, but also through out the
Angus and more recently Simmental breeds as a whole.
Our goal and mission in the Simmental business has been to create cattle that are highly efficient in production, not
only in terms of fleshing ability, milking ability, udder design, and structural correctness, but also with a mind on longevity,
fertility, and consistency. We quickly realized that in our order to create our version of the Ideal Simmental female, we must
start with the Angus cow family that would most consistently produce these characteristics. We were able to harness these traits
with the discovery of the Coleman Donna family, and more importantly the acquisition of two direct daughters of Coleman
Donna 386; one of which is Sandeen Donna 7386, the infamous dam of the $110,000 valued Sandeen Upper Class 2386.
The first set of Upper Class daughters recently averaged just north of $16,000 on the Black Label Sale in Grandview,
TX where 300 units of semen was also sold totaling $90,000. There was also a report of half interest in an Upper Class daughter
in Kentucky being sold for $40,000. The staggering thing is that the male siblings, in each instance, are reportedly better than
their female counter parts. It has been said by all that have used Upper Class, that the calves are the most consistence on their
place, and they have never had Simmental’s with that much true mass and dimension, yet are able to maintain the functionality
and eye-appeal necessary to be highly marketable. 7386 will write her own legacy in the Donna family through her Upper Class
granddaughters and her latest addition, her W/C United daughters that are currently roaming the pastures South of Blakesburg.
Half interest in Sandeen Donna 7386 is being offered with the option to double the hammer price for full possession.

Never before have we offered open heifers in our sale, but with the overwhelming excitement of this first
crop of Upper Class calves we felt it would be relevant to sell choice between the top heifers out of each of our first
two flushes. 4321 is one of the most fault-free we have raised to date. She’s a wide based, bold spring female that is
level hipped, good footed, and extremely flexible when set into motion. One of the most repeated comments I get on
the Upper Class offspring is how their neck is correctly positioned up out of their shoulders and this female would
most definitely exemplify that characteristic. She undoubtedly has a “Show Ring” presence, and the structure and
mass to go with it, but perhaps her greatest days will be after the banners are hung on the wall and she is sent to the
donor pen to make more just like her. She will, no doubt, be a great producer, as her dam and grandam have both
been top producing donors for our program over the past decade.

4041 quite simply has the look of a donor cow. She has unrivaled natural mass and dimension though out,
that you don’t normally find in cattle of this youthfulness. She’s a bit more modest in her frame and efficient in her
design relative to the 4321 heifer. This one may not be the show heifer of the pair, but she will most certainly produce some highly marketable one’s in her lifetime. Her young donor dam, Sandeen Lady 007, has thus far proven to
be a tremendous producer. In the last years sale she had a $9,500 bred heifer and a $6,500 bull. She will insure that
profitable traits such as fertility, longevity, efficient performance, and milk production never slide.
There’s not a wrong choice here between these two heifers. Whichever one you choose to take, you will be
rewarded for many years to come.

Sandeen Donna 3001 is likely a name we will hear more of in the coming years. Three different college judging teams
have termed her “the most complete and fault free heifer in the bunch”. She undoubtedly possesses that “Donna” look that true
cattlemen have come to desire, with her massive sweeping rib cage, her fluid movement, and her absolutely flawless front onethird. She would tend to have just a bit more size relative to some of the contemporaries in the group, but that has certainly not
caused her to deviate from maintaining her condition while on grass all summer. 3001 is backed by two of the most consistently
productive and highly thought of cows of their respective breeds, Coleman Donna 386 and Miley Cottontail. Both have produced countless descendants that have contributed a great deal to seed stock industry. We are very pleased with the way they
have come to compliment one another in what will possibly be a breed-impacting female. We whole-heartedly believe that this
one has the potential to propel even a purebred operation to new heights.

is long spinned, wild necked, and sound structured. I think this would be an interesting one to mate back to Upper

Donna 3786 is one that has been exceptional since she was a calf. She has that bold sprung “Donna type” rib
cage and still maintains a very attractive profile and a great disposition. This might be the most exciting pedigree to
me, of any in the sale. Over the past few years we have become increasingly fond of the usefulness and functionality
that the Lock N Load cattle bring to the table. That coupled with the fact that her dam is the $70,000 valued Donna
8386 cow pretty much solidifies the consistent productivity this one has to offer.

I’ve told several folks that have been through
here that if we were going to keep one of these Donna
daughters to work with this would probably be the one.
She’s just a bit more moderate in her frame and efficient
in her type. She is a wide centered, good necked female
that is unique in her ability to get out and travel relative
to her “Anchor like” muscle pattern and hip structure.
This one will make purebreds that are mistaken for halfbloods, which we feel is a positive attribute.

AI bred 5/24 to WLE Uno Mas
Anybody that has been in the breeding cattle business very long knows about the infamous She’s So Sweet
cow that we sold to Randy and Troy Jones a number of years back, and the impact she has had on so many programs.
This female pretty much exemplifies the stages we have gone through over the past few generations. Starting with
the foundation She’s So Sweet donor, then adding in some of the very best old school OCC genetics for some added
efficiency and perfect udder structure, and finally following up with what we feel is one of the most functional
and useful Purebred sires to come along, Lock N Load. A full sister to this heifer was sold private treaty a couple
of years ago for a $20,000 valuation, so this is not the first of this particular mating to have worked well. 3035 is
absolutely perfect up through her front one third. She is flawless in her structure from the ground up and has the appearance of one that would produce a multitude of really good show heifers that will have a pedigree to move them
into the donor pen immediately after their show career.

best cow we have ever owned. She never makes a bad one and always makes them sound. When you are looking
for a headlining female for your herd it is important to make sure that you take into account cow families and this
girl has that covered in spades. With Burn Baby Burn on the top side and Blackbird Lady on the bottom you can be
assured predictability is bred deep here. Not to mention that she is halter broke and extra docile.

Study your pedigree on this beautiful female.
Bright Star’s legacy is built by Burn Baby Burn on the
top side and SVF Star Struck, the dam of FBFS Wheel
Man, on the bottom side. This particular female displays
a long trim neck, added sweep to her rib, and a long level
top. Here is a true breeding piece female with a world of
potential.
AI bred 5/8 to FBF1 Combustible
This BC Lookout female is moderate in her
frame, easy fleshing, and extremely docile. This halter
broke female will make an excellent replacement female
with her added eye-appeal and extremely efficient build.
Selling safe in calf for a early February calf by Combustible. Really hard to fault this female.

Here is a pair of really good ¾ blood ET full sisters. Their dam is our 007 donor who is also the dam of
the 4041 heifer selling as choice of the Upper Class daughters. The 3019 heifer is a good footed, stout boned, cool
necked one with a big square hip. She would be absolutely perfect to mate to Upper Class. Her sister, 3007, could be
one of the best heifers in this whole bunch, but she’s not a fan of being pushed through the chute a bunch of times.
To be completely upfront, she is good enough to live at Trans Ova, but simply does not have personality for it. She
more so enjoys life out grazing in the pasture, just being a cow.

60A is yet another example of how Meyer genetics and our 831 donor compliment one another. This
cow family’s ease of flesh is aparent in her depth of body
and dimension of rib. This ground sow brood cow prospect carries herself with the athleticism of a gymnist due
in part to her skeletal flexibility. Safe in calf to the calving ease Denver display percentage bull Armada. The
resulting progeny from this mating will be dual regisitered as Simmental & Maine.
AI bred 5/4 to W/C No Remorse
A moderate framed female that is shaggy haired,
deep sided, square hipped, and sound as a dollar. Her
dam was a past show heifer for the Millikan family
of Hedrick, IA and originated from Doug and Aaron

strenght in this female combining Coleman Donna 386
on the top side, and She’s So Sweet x Stress Free on the
bottom.

Gotta love a full face baldy! This one happens
to trace back to the oldest cow family on the place. I
can think of at least 6 descendants of this cow family
that lived and produced to be 18-21 years of age. I don’t
believe longevity will be a problem here. 3856’s dam is
pound for pound, probably the most productive cow on
the place. She is a very moderate framed female that is
made absolutely perfect, breeds first service every year,
and still brings in one of the heaviest calves. This could
potentially be the most productive Upgrade daughter in

Headlining this years herd bull offering are the two full brothers to the Donna 3001 heifer that sells as Lot
3. It’s a well known fact that good breeding bulls are backed by solid cow families, and I think these guys would
qualify. With the great Donna tribe on the bottom side and the infamous Miley Cottontail on the top. Hard to line up
much more predictability than that.
The 426 bull is a powerfully constructed individual that is still exceptionally soft made, for a 3/4 blood
Simmental. Add into the equation that he has a stellar EPD profile and attractive build.
His full brother 410 possesses the very same pedigree and numbers, he’s just been a little greener all along.
Probably blame that on the recip. Who’s to say which one will out breed the other.

calling in life. His dam is a 3 year old Hoss daughter and
she is the only heifer we kept from the Tharpe Angus 6
donor cow that produced to the age of 17.

Here is a pair of half-blood Simmental long yearling bulls who are ready to go to work. This pair of bulls go
back to our 8003 donor female who was purchased by us from the Champion Hill program, and since that time she
has done a tremendous job in production. Impeccable is the freak necked baldy of this duo who is striking on the
profile and displays ample rib shape and is ultra correct when put on the move. Precision is more of a beef bull who
brings added muscle shape to the table along with a long level top and added flex when you get him on the move.
A full sibling to these two powerful breeding bulls sells as Lot 67. Just think what this pair of full brothers could do
to enhance your operation.

We really like the Style progeny as he seems to
add a tremendous amount of look, substance, and structural correctness. This Style son goes back to the Misty
cow family who has done a great job for us over the
years, consistantly raising progeny who have sold in the
$4k-6k range. If consistancy is your goal, here is your
guy.
