Attendance at Cannes is perceived as ‘required’ by key power brokers, opinion formers and trendsetters from across the world. Cannes is renowned for its celebrity visitors, from Hollywood to Bollywood and naturally European cinematic royalty that is complimented by the world’s largest annual gathering of media. In 2013, La Plage Royale Private Members Club made its Cannes debut and was welcomed and acclaimed by all sectors of the film industry for its informed blend of entertainment and business. Created by film industry insiders for film industry professionals La Plage Royale Private Members Club returns to La Croisette for the duration of the Cannes Film Festival 2014. Stylish and effortlessly sophisticated, La Plage Royale Private Members Club will offer members a daytime space in which they can relax and entertain along with facilitating their business and meeting needs. For the evenings, the venue will become a bespoke entertainment venue in the heart of the Cannes Film Festival. Produced and managed by JoJo from JJD Consultancy and Mario, the venue owner, the club has the benefit of around 70 years of invaluable experience in running magnificent events, successful restaurants and setting up private members clubs. U LT I M AT E LY T H I S I S Y O U R S P A C E , T O D O B U S I N E S S , H AV E F U N , S E E A N D B E S E E N LA PLAGE ROYALE - PRIVATE MEMBERS CLUB YEAR ONE – THE MEMBERS Doors to the La Plage Royale Private Members Club opened from the 16th - 24th May 2013, during which time the venue played host to 100s of meetings, 1000s of introductions and some of the highest profile parties in Cannes 2013. Members from across the full breadth of the film industry used the club for meetings and to entertain, and internationally renowned personalities popped in to take shelter from the Cannes media melee. As a Cannes festival goer since 1978, first as a journalist, then as a film company executive, and now as an independent producer, this year’s event boasted a fantastic addition for me: the Plage Royale Members Club. No more roaming the terraces of the Grand or the Majestic or the Carlton, looking for a hard to find empty seat, a hard to find meeting, or a hard to find waiter! Laid out splendidly and stylishly on a perfectly positioned beach, with the great existing facilities of the Plage Royale restaurant, this was THE meeting place for the 2013 festival. Roomy, comfortable, with great attentive service, it was the perfect spot to catch up with or bump into old friends and schedule meetings with important business colleagues, whether for a morning coffee, delicious lunch, or evening drink. I personally don’t know what I would have done without it at this year’s festival, and I can’t imagine a future festival where it’s welcoming embrace is absent. Viva Plage Royale Members Club, I say! COLIN VAINES: INDEPENDENT PRODUCER LA PLAGE ROYALE - PRIVATE MEMBERS CLUB YEAR ONE – THE EVENTS Photo credit: Zap Events & PR: 50-Year Anniversary of the Swedish Film Institute, Plage Royale in Cannes La Plage Royale hosted some of highest profile parties at Cannes 2013, from the high powered Beach Ball (charity dinner for Film Aid), to full black tie nordic glamour with the 50th anniversary of the Swedish Film Institute. Global launches of the next animated hit from China, Legend of A Rabbit: The Martial of Fire, along with ‘local’ celebrations from the British Film Institute and Taiwan Film Commission, created an event venue that captured the global spirit of Cannes, demonstrating enormous style panache with creative flair, as each event had its own distinct voice. We are very pleased to have engaged Jojo and her team to help us with our first party, “Rabbit Night” in Cannes, 2013. As a chinese company, it’s always tricky to plan a party that is international yet well-balanced with chinese cultural elements. We were glad that Jojo took up the challenge. The result was spectacular, it definitely helped us create an impression amongst international guests. ELLIOTT TONG, TIANJIN NORTH FILM GROUP LA PLAGE ROYALE - PRIVATE MEMBERS CLUB YEAR ONE – THE GUESTS La Plage Royale hosted and coordinated by known film ‘veterans’ is a space in which everyone can relax. From top tier producers, to heavy weight financiers, along with global names, La Plage Royale quickly became the venue to be seen at, out of the spotlight of the media, but within the spotlight of the industry. Intandem’s office were across the road in the Relais de la Reine Complex and we found the Plage Royale Club to be an invaluable resource for both business and pleasure. We utilised the restaurant pretty much every day for lunch - taking clients, our producers and David Hasselhoff, who all remarked positively on the relaxed ambience and quality of both service and the food. We also used the space to meet clients and found the whole team, headed by Jojo, to be truly professional, friendly and efficient. Overall, the Club proved to be very a successful asset and a real oasis for Intandem and we very much hope that it will be in Cannes next year! ANDREW BROWN. It was a huge undertaking to produce a 300-seater sparkly gala complete with delicious food executed beautifully, a live Christie’s auction and a musical performance from Alison Moyet, and Jojo did not disappoint. The space lent itself perfectly to a gala dinner that then turned into a late night party and the buzz was amazing, all with a breathtaking view and stylish interiors. The staff were extremely helpful, from food to AV and everything in between, and no request was too big. Jojo made the impossible possible and bent over backwards to make the fundraiser a success.
