Committee Reports
Facilities committee chair Mr. Caverly reported that recent review of natural gas hook ups for LHS-JH
Complex summit gas has inquired if the district intends to connect for the next heating season. Summit
would pay for the cost of pipe line construction down Bulldog Drive to the exterior wall and the district
would be responsible for internal connections and any modifications needed to use natural gas. The
committee has directed the Superintendent to obtain quotes on identical services from Siemens and
Honeywell and to include a set up to use dual fueled as part of the specifications.
14-05-22
Motion by Mr. Caverly, 2nd by Mr. Kinley to vote to authorize converting LHS-LJH to the use of
natural gas with the backup for dual fuel capacity. Passed 9-0-0.

Superintendent’s Report
Dr. Baker reported that today the district had an early dismissal for staff in all subjects and grade levels
to work on identifying core learning objectives. The district will create assessments of proficiency for
those next year as part of the new state requirements.
Ms. Tompkins noted that the junior high school received the donation of an AED. The staff has already
received training and the school is very appreciative of efforts to date.
Assistant Principal Packard reported eight grade six students at Benton Elementary received $100
scholarships to add to a college savings. Students submitted essays on what their career plans may be
