SCOPE organises Lecture Session on "Public Sector Reforms”
T he 5th Public Sector Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm by all

IAS, Secretary, DPE was the Chief Guest. Mr. C.S. Verma, Chairman,
PSEs and SCOPE from 10th April to 16th April 2014. As a part of
SCOPE and Chairman, SAIL and Dr. U.D. Choubey, Director General,
weeklong fabulous celebrations, SCOPE organized a Lecture Session on
SCOPE also addressed the participants. Eminent speakers
‘Public Sector Reforms” on 16th April 2014 at SCOPE Convention
complimented the excellent contribution and achievements of Public
Centre by Padma Bhushan Dr. M.B. Athreya, a well known
Sector Enterprises and advocated for bringing more professionalism and
Management Advisor and Padma Bhushuan Col S.P. Wahi, former
effective leadership in them. The programme was attended by a large

SCOPE Launches Major Quizzing Initiative
For Public Sector Employees
S COPE Business Quiz book, a publication of
n
SCOPE, was launched in a function held at
SCOPE Convention Centre on April 16. Ms.
Kusumjit Sidhu, IAS, Secretary, DPE , released
the Quiz book in the presence of Mr. C.S.
Verma, Chairman, SCOPE & Chairman, SAIL,
Dr. U.D. Choubey, Director General, SCOPE,
Padma Bhushan Dr. M.B. Athreya and Padma
Bhushan Col. S.P. Wahi, former Chairman,
ONGC and SCOPE.
The quiz will be held in June-July 2014, at the
four Metros viz., Mumbai, Bangalore,
Kolkata and New Delhi with the Grand
Finale at New Delhi. The national winners
and runners up would take home a cash
prize of Rs. One lakh and fifty thousand
respectively along with trophies and gifts.
SCOPE is also conducting training
programmes for developing quiz masters.

Bhilai Steel Plant to review the
modernization & expansion work at the unit that would
enhance the Plant's production levels to 7.5 MTPA of Hot Metal from
the current level of around 5 MTPA with an investment of over
Rs. 17,265 crore.
The new modernised facilities coming up at SAIL-Bhilai includes a
new blast furnace, sinter machine, a coke oven battery, steel melting
shop, universal rail mill and a bar and rod mill. During the visit.

N TPC Consultancy Wing has bagged the contract for providing Owner's

Engineer Consultancy Services to Trincomalee Power Company Ltd. for setting
up 2x250 MW Coal Based Power Project at Trincomalee, in Sri Lanka. The
Contract Agreement was signed by Mr. Atul Srivastava, MD & Mr. MC

O&M Meet of NSPCL
N SPCL organized its 2nd O&M Meet in PMI, Noida. The Meet

was inaugurated by Mr. N. N. Misra, Chairman, NSPCL and
Director (O), NTPC. Merit awards were given for Productivity
to Bhilai, Safety to Durgapur & Environment to Rourkela
Captive Power plant . The theme of the Meet was "Cost Effective
Generation through Innovative O&M: The Roadmap" and
provided excellent platform for sharing new ideas in the
Power Sector.

T he 10 MW solar plant at NTPC,Talcher (Kaniha) was

commissioned four Solar projects, Andaman Solar (5 MW),
Dadri Solar (5 MW), Ramagundam Solar(10 MW) and the
presently commissioned Talcher Kaniha (10 MW).

'Indashala' of NADT, Nagpur, constructed by NBCC,
has been dedicated recently in the presence of
Mrs Sudha Sharma, Chairman, Central Board of Direct
Taxes, Mr Yogesh P Sharma, GM , and other senior officials.
The project was awarded to NBCC by NADT, at a
cost of Rs. 101.12 crore.

Solar Power for NALCO Corporate Office
N ALCO is setting up a grid connected PV system rooftop solar project of 160 kilowatts peak (kWp) for its Corporate Office building at
Bhubaneswar, as a part of green initiatives. The project setting up activity was formally launched by Mr Ansuman Das, CMD, NALCO. The
project is expected to generate green renewable energy of about 2.10 lakh units per annum. 30% subsidy of the capital cost would be provided
by GOI through Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd.
