Andrew Phelps-is an educator, digital artist, and technologist with over 15 years’
experience. He currently serves as the founder and director of the RIT Center for
Media, Arts, Games, Interaction and Creativity (MAGIC), and holds
the rank of Professor in the School of Interactive Games and Media that he
founded in 2011.
Dr. Ferat Sahin-joined Rochester Institute of Technology in September 2000,
where he is an Associate Professor. He is also the director of Multi Agent BioRobotics Laboratory at RIT. In 2006, he was with the University of Texas San
Antonio for his sabbatical as Visiting Research Associate Professor. His current
research interests are System of Systems, Swarm Intelligence, Robotics, MEMS
Materials Modeling, MEMS-based Microrobots, Micro Actuators, Distributed
Computing, Decision Theory, Pattern Recognition, Distributed Multi-agent
Systems, and Structural Bayesian Network Learning.
Markette Piece- A founding organizer of the Learning2Build-Building2Learn
Unconference, Markette transitioned from teaching English to coaching teachers
on issues surrounding literacy and technology. Committed to learner-directed,
tech-enabled, asynchronous education, Markette is a member of the Edcamp
Foundation Public Relations committee, and will be presenting on flipped PD at
FlipCon14 in June. She continues to collaborate with KnoweldgeCraft Projects on
the founding of a public charter school/makerspace in Rochester to open in 2015.
Ellie Steinmetz-is currently an 11th grader at Hilton Central High School. She is
planning on pursuing a career in music education and wishes to be an innovator
in the field by incorporating new technology and Flipped Pedagogy. Other
interests include volunteering for local causes and institutions, social and civil
activism, and working with area youth.
Sylvia Perez-Hardy- BS, MBA, Cornell University. Sylvia has many years of
experience in the field of data communications, computer networking and
midrange and large systems management. She joined the RIT faculty in 1998
after her career as a systems engineer at IBM. Her current interests include the
use of technology and active learning techniques in teaching, network design,
network simulation, network performance, switching, routing, and the
interoperability of network devices.
Dr. Jonathan Schull–Research Scientist in MAGIC (RIT’s Center for Media,
Arts, Graphics, Interactivity, and Creativity). A sometime biological psychologist,
entrepreneur, human computer interaction researcher, an active transportation
advocate, and former director of RIT's Center for Student Innovation, Schull
holds 14 patents. His recent work concerns real-time web-based collaboration in
the service of innovation, learning, and community engagement.
Clarence Burton Sheffield, Jr. “Chip ”, is an associate professor in the College of
Imaging Arts and Science at RIT, where he has taught since 2003. His
scholarship and research focus on the modern era, with special emphasis on
Scandinavian art, architecture and design, as well as critical theory and
philosophical aesthetics. He teaches courses in modern and contemporary art
history and theory. In 2012, he was named the inaugural recipient of the Eugene
H. Fram Chair in Applied Critical Thinking, an endowed, at large, faculty position
“responsible for the leadership, advocacy, oversight and management of critical
thinking across the entire university.”
