All TECNAM LSA airplanes equipped with Rotax Engines.
TIME OF COMPLIANCE
At Customer’s choice.
WORKING PLACE
On place.
Subject: Exhaust System Anti-Seize Copper Grease Application.
Scope: Tecnam recommends to the customers to apply a New Anti-Seize Copper Grease brand
Loctite C5-A or Equivalent by following the procedure reported in this Service Bulletin in order to
avoid premature wear of the Exhaust System joints. Tecnam also recommends to repeat this
procedure every 100 flight hours.
Required material: Loctite C5-A Anti-Seize Copper Grease or Equivalent.
Manpower: 1.0 man-hour.
WEIGHT AND BALANCE: Nil.
Special tooling: No special tools are required.
Reference: Nil.

INSTRUCTIONS
1. Aircraft preparation
1) Park the aircraft in a closed hangar;
2) Only for Retractable Gear A/C: Make sure that landing gear is down and locked (Master Switch ON: LG
advisory lights must be ON);
3) MASTER SWITCH: OFF;
4) STARTER RELAY BREAKER: OFF;
5) PARKING BRAKE: ON;
6) Remove Engine Cowlings (Refer to AMM).
2. Materials

Loctite C5-A Anti-Seize Copper Grease or Equivalent.
3. Procedure
Apply this procedure for each Engine equipped by the A/C:
1) Clean cylinder head exhaust ports;
2) Apply Loctite C5-A Anti-Seize Copper Grease or Equivalent to top of exhaust pipe and insert into head. Refer
to Figure 1 and 2;
3) Remove the excess copper Grease;
4) Move the pipe up and down in the head making a smooth connection;
5) Install nuts finger tight;
6) Apply Loctite C5-A Anti-Seize Copper Grease or Equivalent to ball and socket on pipes and muffler
connections;
7) Remove the excess Copper Grease;
8) Install muffler and all 8 springs;
9) Move muffler left and right to seat ball and sockets. This will put the exhaust in its definitive placement;
10) Place muffler in proper location;
11) Tighten all nuts on cylinder heads to proper torque;
12) Set-up the Exhaust Springs by filling them with High Heat Silicone to provide additional vibrations damping
capability as per Tecnam SB 147 - CS - Ed1r0;
13) Set-up the Exhaust Springs by installing a Safety wire between each pair of springs in order to prevent their
loss as per Tecnam NCA 24 - Ed1r0.
4. Final Operations
1) Reinstall the engine cowlings (Refer to AMM);
2) Record the application of the present Service Bulletin on the aircraft log-book.
This procedure should be completed every 100 flight hours to ensure a long exhaust system
life and in order to avoid premature wear of the Exhaust System joints.
