Regulatory Status
PRONOVA sodium alginate meets the standards set forth in the current editions of the United States Pharmacopeia/National
Formulary and European Pharmacopoeia. PROTASAN chitosan chloride and Sodium Hyaluronate Pharma Grade meet the
standard set forth in the European Pharmacopoeia.
PRONOVA™ sodium alginate, PROTASAN™ chitosan salts, and Sodium Hyaluronate Pharma Grade satisfy the requirements for
use in tissue-engineered medical products as set forth in ASTM F2064, ASTM F2103 and ASTM F2347, respectively.
PRONOVA sodium alginate and PROTASAN chitosan salts are manufactured in Sandvika, Norway in accordance with GMP
guideline; ICH Q7 and ISO standards; ISO 9001:2008, ISO 13485:2003 and ISO 22442:2007.
Sodium Hyaluronate Pharma Grade is produced by Kikkoman Biochemifa Company, formerly Kibun Foodchemifa, in Kamogawa,
Japan. These products are produced under GMP guideline; Article 13 of Pharmaceutical Law of Japan and ISO standards; ISO
9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004. The sodium hyaluronates are fermented and purified using materials of non-animal origin.
PRONOVA sodium alginate, PROTASAN chitosan salts and Sodium Hyaluronate Pharma Grade products are described in
separate DMF’s submitted to the US FDA.
“Research products” including NOVATACHTM peptide-coupled alginates, NOVAFECTTM chitosan oligomers and others are not
maintained under GMP and are not intended for human use.
NOVATACHTM and NOVAFECTTM are IP restricted products. A special Supply Agreement is required.
