Richard has more than 23 years of real estate experience. His primary clients include real estate operating companies, REITs, institutional investors, and pension funds. Richard's areas of expertise include: property valuation of all major property types, transaction support services, valuation advisory/management consulting, and litigation support. In relation to transaction support, Richard's experience includes acquisition and disposition due diligence on an asset and portfolio level, portfolio and benchmarking analysis, sale/lease back analysis, purchase price allocation, and collateral analysis for loan underwriting. He also provides expert testimony for litigation involving real estate valuation. Richard received his B.S. in Agricultural Economics from North Dakota State University and his M.S. in Real Estate Appraisal and Investment Analysis from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. Prior to joining the firm, Richard served as a Principal with PricewaterhouseCoopers in the Real Estate Business Advisory Service. Richard holds the MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute, the CRE® designation with the Counselors of Real Estate, and is a Fellow, Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (FRICS). He is a certified general real estate appraiser in 21 states and has a California Brokers license. Richard was also a contributing researcher for Emerging Trends in Real Estate, an annual survey publication of PricewaterhouseCoopers and Urban Land Institute. He has been a presenter or moderator at various conferences.
