St. Richard Catholic School
Mission Statement
We the community at St. Richard Catholic School
are happily called to be Christ’s eyes in seeing the
needs of creation; His ears in listening with mind,
heart, and spirit to others; His hands in reaching
out to help; His feet in taking action. In this setting
as educators, learners, and servers, we are
providing opportunities for academic excellence.
FREE OF WORRIES
Rising very early before dawn, Jesus left and went off to
a deserted place, where he prayed.
The image of Jesus praying may seem a little odd at
first—after all, he is God and we pray to him! We
don’t know what Jesus’ prayer was like, but we do
know that he is fully united to the Father and the
Holy Spirit.

GROUP YEARBOOK PICTURES
When we turn our hearts and minds to God in
prayer, we are seeking to unite ourselves to the
Holy Trinity. Take a few moments, today if you
can, to go off by yourself and turn to God in prayer.
Lord Jesus, thank you for giving us an example of
the importance of prayer.

The forms for Ed Choice Expansion
Scholarships from the state of Ohio are
available the website http://edchoice.ohio.gov
and can be filled out online. Copies of the
new or renewal form are available in the
school office. Students who will be in
Kindergarten, Grade 1 or Grade 2 during the
2015-2016 school year are eligible for this
scholarship. Paper copies of these forms are
also available in the school office.
DRESS CODE REMINDERS
Just a reminder that boots are not to be worn all day
in class—only shoes are to be worn in the classrooms.
Also, some girls are wearing nail polish which is not
allowed. Socks are to cover the ankle at all times.
Please reread the Dress Code sheet that was sent
home this summer and is posted on the website.
Students in Grades 5-8 should be wearing school
shoes during the day—not tennis shoes.
When the wind chill is above 25 degrees, students will
be going out for recess. Students need to bring coats,
gloves or mittens, hats, and scarves. If there is snow
on the ground, boots are necessary. Students also
need to bring a pair of shoes to change into from the
boots.
PICTURES FOR YEARBOOK
If you have any photos that you
think might be nice for the
yearbook, please E-mail them to
Mrs. Cooper at
[email protected] no later
than February 20. Thanks.

For the rest of the year, orders will be due the last
Friday of each month. Thank you.

the television for school closing and delays. If
Swanton delays or closes, the same will be true for St.

WORLD PRAYER FOR FAMILIES
God and Father of us all, in Jesus, your
Son and our Savior, you have made us Your sons and
daughters in the family of the Church.
May Your grace and love help our families in every
part of the world be united to one another in fidelity to
the gospel. May the example of the Holy Family,
with the aid of Your Holy Spirit, guide all families,
especially those most troubled, to be homes of
communion and prayer and to always seek your truth
and live in your love.
Through Christ our Lord, Amen.
Jesus, Mary and Joseph pray for us.

CABINET NEEDED
We are in need of a replacement
cabinet for our used uniform
cabinet. The green wooden one is
falling apart and we would like
something with more shelves in it to
store the clothes on a little better. If
you know of someone who is
getting rid of a cabinet like the one
pictured, please ask them if we
could have it for our school. It would be greatly
appreciated. A vertical file may also work for the
uniforms. Thank you.
