Nancye Green has owned the business she founded – off and on - for over 40
years. She has been a CEO, a Chief Brand Officer (twice), the president of several
professional organizations – design and business, has been on a number of
Boards of Directors, both corporate and not-for profit, has sold her company and
started it again. She has taught in design schools, lectured to various kinds of
audiences and mentored many young women
Nancye Green is a designer and business leader, with a storied career addressing
the complex communication challenges of large enterprises, startup companies
and non-profit organizations. Today she is Chief Design Officer at The Medicines
Company, a highly innovative fast growing hospital medicine company. Before
creating a joint alliance between Donovan/Green and MDCO, Ms. Green
developed, designed, and produced in multiple media on behalf of clients as
diverse as 3M, P&G, Exxon, American Express, GM, and Sony. She has served
on the Boards of Directors of several companies including Hallmark, Ingram
Partnership and EcoHealth Alliance, and the Design Board of P&G.
For those of you just starting to build your networks, you will learn that a strategic
approach works better. For those of you more experienced, you will learn how
to cut through the “fog” quicker, and better assess opportunities that you can
capitalize on. By the end of the session, you will have met and learned how to
leverage at least one valuable new connection.
Nancy May is President and CEO of The BoardBench Companies, LLC, a
corporate governance advisory and director succession services firm. Ms. May
has over 25 years experience as a strategic advisor to high-growth, mid-cap,
and Global 100 public and private companies and their boards worldwide on
issues impacting financial health, rapid growth, and corporate sustainability.
Early in her career, Ms. May was known for her work in emerging technologies
where she developed and implemented advanced business, marketing, and
consumer applications for such clients as Burger King, CitiBank, CocaCola, Ford
Motor, Kodak and others.
Sudha Pennathur’s talk will be about how we act in a changing world of social,
cultural and environmental values. In her own business, she follows a “Working with a
Purpose” model where the intent is first to make a profit, but then followed up with the
intention of giving back to society.
Sudha Pennathur is a nationally renowned designer, Founder, President and CEO
of House of Pennathur, a global design and manufacturing company dedicated to
providing unique, artisan-handmade jewelry and textiles for high-end specialty
stores and museums. In the 29 years since its founding, House of Pennathur has
employed over 2,000 artisans residing in developing countries worldwide, with
particular focus in India, to produce her unique collections for stores such as
Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman, and for catalogs and
museums such as The National Geographic, Metropolitan Museum of Art, New
York, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C. She is
dedicated to “giving back” to the community she is in and earmarks a large portion
of her earnings to give to the non-profits to uplift the human spirit.”

Keys to Success in Business
(and Life!) … A C.O.M.B.O.
Toni Portmann
Board of Directors,
Support.Com, SPRT

The Power of Philanthropy
Shannon Mabrey Rotenberg
Executive Director,
j.k. livin Foundation
Los Angeles, CA
Toni Portmann will present an engaging and participative perspective on 5 keys
to success in business (and life). It is never ‘one thing’ but a C.O.M.B.O. of elements
that make up success and you will get to figure out the Key to the Acronym and
leave with practical ideas and approaches that will frame how you approach
your job and career and your work with others in new ways you may not have
considered!
Toni Portmann serves on the board of directors of Support.Com, SPRT, a
publically traded company that provides remote technology services and
home agent BPO to consumers and small business. She most recently served
as CEO for LockIN, an early stage paradigm busting SaaS e-Learning company
that ‘helps people remember what matters.’ Previously, Ms. Portmann was
the CEO of Stream, Inc., where she transformed a 75 million dollar contact
services division of Software Spectrum into a global BPO leader with revenues
exceeding $530 million dollars and over 15,000 employees.
Whether you’re a Fortune 500 company or a small start-up, giving back to the
community is good for your business. Sharing what Shannon Mabrey has learned
over more than 15 years working in the non-profit sector, she will outline the farreaching benefits of philanthropy and how to use your connections and resources
to make positive difference in the world around you. She will also explore how to
find non-profits that are a good fit for your company and how to develop fun and
meaningful service campaigns.
Shannon Mabrey Rotenberg, an Oklahoman native, started her career with nonprofit organizations and the entertainment industry while at Creative Artists
Agency, a talent and sports agency based in Los Angeles. She was a program
director in their philanthropic division before helping to launch the just keep
livin Foundation. Started by actor Matthew McConaughey, the goal of the just
keep livin Foundation is to empower teenage kids to lead active lives and make
healthy choices. The foundation has partnered with other non-profits to run
afterschool programs in inner-city high schools which encourage students to
improve their physical and mental health.
