Konica Minolta expands reach in APAC
Acquisition of Ergo strengthens company’s presence in the global market for
marketing print management (MPM)
Langenhagen/Germany, June 23rd, 2014
Konica Minolta has agreed to acquire Ergo Asia Pty Ltd, a leading marketing services
production company in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. The merger is to take effect
immediately following approval by competition authorities.
The acquisition will significantly expand Konica Minolta’s global reach in Marketing
Print Management (MPM) following its 2012 takeover of Charterhouse, which has a
strong presence in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). It will create one of
the largest MPM providers worldwide as these two companies together cover more
than 30 countries.
“The culture, expertise and client base that Ergo brings to MPM fit perfectly with
Charterhouse. This merger is a further step for us on the way to the global lead in
marketing production,” said Jun Haraguchi, Senior Executive Officer at Konica
Minolta. “This acquisition proves Konica Minolta’s commitment to the global
development of Marketing Print Management,” he added. “We are thrilled to join the
Konica Minolta Group. They are well known in the industry for their integrity,
commitment to clients and innovation,” said Eugene Cora, CEO at Ergo.
Konica Minolta leads the production printing market in Europe and has long been
active in Marketing Print Management (MPM) services, which improve the printing
business process and assist planning and production of highly value-added products
(print, displays, digital, etc) for promotion and marketing purposes. Demand for
digital printing systems for production print is increasing, and Konica Minolta will
benefit from closer links with production printers as a result of acquiring Ergo.
Both Charterhouse and Ergo have long been serving many high-profile global brands.
They have also collaborated on projects over the last two years based on a shared
strategic outside-in approach, focusing on services that will deliver value to clients.
“Ergo and Charterhouse have very similar cultures marked by a client-first mind-set"
said Gary Mahoney, Charterhouse CEO. "This is a great opportunity for both
organizations to leverage synergies from this acquisition and address client needs
across the global market”.

Ergo and Charterhouse will make Konica Minolta one of the few global providers with
full MPM service offering across the Asia-Pacific and EMEA regions.
