BBC Proms Inspire scheme for young composer 2014-15
This is a nationwide initiative to nurture and develop the UK’s brightest young musical composition talent. The Inspire
scheme will begin this year with a series of Labs across the UK, aimed at schools, young composers and teachers. The
Inspire Labs are a great way for young people aged 12 – 18 to develop their compositional skills through working with
professional musicians and leading composers, and will offer invaluable support and guidance to young composers who
are aiming to enter the 2015 Inspire Young Composers’ Competition, launching in January 2015. In addition to this, there
will be a range of other opportunities over the 2014-15 Inspire season, including composition workshops during the Proms
festival season, ticket offers to Proms concerts featuring contemporary works, and concerts showcasing winning and
commissioned pieces written by Inspire Alumni.
