Sightseeing: bus tour to the butte de Vauquois
(wheelchair access is limited due to the geography of the site. Hiking boots and rain
coats strongly recommended)
Pedagogically, visiting the hill by the school evokes all phases of the war (warfare,
positional warfare, technological changes, arrival of the Americans). But also, this
allows highlighting the place of the soldier in the conflict, the implementation of total
war, the brutalization of bodies and minds. Finally, Vauquois is an alternative to the
case study of Verdun which is performed in the framework of the third class in History
and Geography.
